Since Giant Squid and Pythons can be a nice challenge to hunt, it could be fun (and hopefully not too much work) to have more "boss" type animals in the other more extensive terrain types, namely beaches and tunnels. So I'm suggesting a Colossal Crab for the beaches and dunes and a Colossal Spider for the tunnels.
Colossal Spider
Simple version: Just a stronger version of the giant spider. Something like 250-400 hit points, more damage and maybe more potent poison. One of them at a time walks around in the main tunnel system.
Possible extra mechanic: Has a ~5-15% chance to leave behind a web (see attachments) when it moves. The webs disappear on their own after a few days. If a player enters a tunnel with a web, they get stuck. They get a "cut webs" button if they have items suitable for chopping jungles. It costs 1 AP and has a chance of succeeding, giving 1 XP and clearing the webs. The player can alternatively try to move to another tile, with a chance to escape and leave the web intact (similar to python constriction).
Colossal Crab
Simple version: Just a strong animal that walks around the beach/dune tiles (maybe also shallow water). 1-2 at a time in the world. Possibly not aggressive unless attacked?
Possible extra mechanics:
- It could grab players with its pincers if it attacks. This could work just like python constriction with slightly different messages.
- Maybe its thick shell would reduce all damage by 1.
- Some interaction with the crab item. Maybe each crab in the inventory decreases its hit chance. Maybe it seeks out players with crabs in their inventory. This could be a fun way to make the item useful.
- Some interaction with the Conch shell. Maybe it always searches for it and grabs it if it finds it. Then you must kill the crab to get it.
Of course, both could have upgraded versions like the python and giant squid does. I added possible "slayer" badge graphics for them, as well as webs that could be overlayed on top of tunnel tiles. Note: They were initially made with AI, then shrunk down/edited and put on the empty badge background. Thus they don't look quite as good as the pre-existing ones, but maybe better than nothing.
I know it's unlikely Simon will add anything bigger at this point, but hopefully these could add a decent amount of new gameplay and goals without requiring too much work (at least not the simple versions).
