In York, I have a character with 5 empty bottles and five empty gourds.

I want to exchange them for a knife. The trader says he wants six empty bottles or six empty gourds.

Could they be interchangeable for the purposes of trading?

Trade one of your empty gourds for an empty bottle or vice versa then you'll have six.
