I reckon I've touched on this before. But I feels like if a cannibal can gain some calories from eating Terrible Ed's carcass, Ed should be able to do likewise from a deer. Maybe we'd need to build a fire first for roastin' purposes. Except for a giant squid -- that be sushi! You could live a month off the critter. Rum aside, the diet on Shartak be a bit frugal. A skalawag should at least be able to fill his belly wi' an occasional parrot.

I do remember this being suggested before.  Since I'm procrastinating already, I might as well search for some of the threads and link them here!  Then we'll see more reasons for/against this idea.
