It's finished and the code is live. I'm just waiting on some final testing and then you'll have access to a major new feature finally. The first in quite a while.

*EDIT* Updated subject now everyone knows what it was.

At least 6 people know of it so far (3 who found it on their own and 3 who tested it). 45 other people will find out about it in the next day or two.

You can buy a treasure map at a traders and hunt for the treasure.

It's something new!

"You dig a hole with your shovel.
You find 2 machetes and 1 heavy sword in the hole. You gain 61 XP.
Congratulations! You found the treasure mentioned in map 8. You crumple the map up and discard it.."

We litter in Shartak!

and

"You dig a hole with your shovel.
You find 100 gold coins in the hole. You gain 21 XP.
Congratulations! You found the treasure mentioned in map 7. You crumple the map up and discard it."

So when will these maps start showing up?  How many will each trader get?  Or will only certain traders have them?   Details!

Hmm. Interesting. This was my favourite suggestion so I'm pleased its implmented (thansk Simon). The fact that you've found two so easily though suggests the maps aren't so hard to decypher?

On two different characters, one was practically on top of it when I clicked the map, the other I burned through XP-AP to get to it.

Found two treasures.
Seemed easy enough once I got the hang of what a 'great distance' actually implied.  Not as great as I thought so I overran it with one character.
Still something new to do. Probably worth the 8-9gp.

You find 8 gourds of tasty berry juice in the hole. You gain 161 XP.

My other character got 8 bottles of banana juice and about the same xp.

Kind of wish it were more of a 11 paces south 10 paces west sort of deal though.

There is the potential to introduce stuff that can only be found at the end of a treasure map and not normally found at traders etc. Also, "monthly" items that are only available for a few weeks each year (or whenever). You could also get a map, use identify to see the rough area of the island and next time you're over that way activate the map for better directions.

You dig a hole with your shovel.
You find 1 first aid kit and 7 healing herbs in the hole. You gain 161 XP.
Congratulations! You found the treasure mentioned in map 16. You crumple the map up and discard it.

All at once? So it's activated and tells you to proceed 35 steps north-east and 7 steps north?
