The Imperial Bank is changing its name to the Bank of Shartak, and has a new logo:

Both the logo and name were selected by popular vote at the bank's website.

In addition:

1. the bank has opened a new branch at Fort Creedy - see Justice Hart of York, the current manager there, for details, in anticipation of the "oil rush" discussed in the last issue of the Shartak Financial Times.

2. the abnk is seeking employees to take over branches. Please PM me if you're interested.

Your money is safe as ever, Rob.

Yeah. I politely asked him to stop but he politely said no. Since it hasn't devolved into a shooting war its more annoying than anything else. And to date its confined to Raktam.

I'm curious, what's the need for banks? Seems I can fit an infinite amount of gold on my person, and there's no way anybody can take it from me unless I spend it. The idea's neat but right now it's nothing more than an extra trip I'd have to take.

I get the occasional bonus dividened to supplement my own gold, they make cash out of it when people need loans.
But i dont think that happens often, so they just harvest gold. i dont complain, thats why we have gold sinks like 4000gc swords

Its the dividends which are a compelling reason to contribute. But we haven't had a dividend for two months, primarily because I've been too busy in RL to harvest gold.

Eventually someone will need money to hire the Mercenaries Guild, the Jolly Roger Gang and the Scavengers (or whoever) to attack something, and when that happens the Bank will happily fund that war, for a profit, to share amongst its customers.

To be fair, the bank also facilitates financial transactions.  When the EF paid Christian Fletcher reparations for attacking him, we used the bank.  He could pick it up in any town.

I never participated in the bank since I hate work. But you have to admit it brought excitement through all the hostilities it started between people. It's added spice.
