Title: Cannibal Contest: The Bludgeon of Mal
Post by: Neil Tathers on December 28, 2010, 04:59:27 PM
Dreams

Grunk the Pale bowed low before the Fat Red Saint.  Receiving the gift of a crab, and thanking the Fat Red Saint for his generosity, Grunk ate the crab.  The meat tasted weird in his mouth, slightly metallic, and his eyes shuddered in his skull.  Mist enveloped him.

The mist obscured his vision, and Grunk began to walk within it aimlessly.  Sounds of battle could be heard faint and low beyond the mist.  Grunk ran eagerly forward into it, searching for the source.  As the noise grew louder Grunk's instincts told him to jump backward, and he followed them.

A giant black mace slammed into the ground in front of him.  A strong warrior stepped forward through the mist, his belt decorated with skulls, severed fingers were strung across his neck, and bulging muscles flexed as they lifted the giant mace once more.

"YOU CALL YOURSELF A WARRIOR!" shouted the giant cannibal, striking where Grunk laid in shock.  The young cannibal manage to roll, the impact of the mace shaking the ground.  "YOU FLEE FROM BATTLE!"

The mist began to clear and slowly Grunk could see more of his surroundings.  People were dead all around them, cannibal and human alike.  Others were still fighting, a circle around several shaman, who were chanting in tongues.

"THIS IS THE FINAL BATTLE.  THIS IS WHERE THE CANNIBALS TRIED TO STOP THEIR EXILE.  THIS IS WHAT YOU MUST AVOID." said the giant cannibal.  "MY WEAPON WILL HELP THAT."

Grunk stared in awe at the battle before him.  The ocean was running red with blood, the sand stained a reddish brown color, dead bodies floating everywhere.  "Where is your weapon oh lord?"

"LORD MALROGK'S BLUDGEON IS LOCATED AT A PYRAMID.  IN A LAND OF THAT IS TORMENTED."

"I know of a such a place."

"BE WARY. THOSE THAT GUARD IT ARE STRONG.  THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY HAVE FOUND."

The mist enveloped Grunk again, the ground beneath his feet went fro soil to wooden floorboards.  Grunk stood up, blinking a few times.  The Fat Red Saint was gone, in fact the hut was dark.  Grunk looked around and saw the old tiger that followed him standing guard near the door.

"Tiger, we are going to Dalpok."

It roared in response.

Bobby the Hatchet crawls forth from hibernation, placing an ear to the ground. The thunderous sounds of battle and the whispers of ancient warrior spirits can be heard.

"I too know of such a place. A brief slumber and then to Dalpok! To glorious death among warriors!"

A parrot flies in with a note tied to its legs. Written on the blank side of an anarchist political pamphlet is a message addressed to Grunk the Pale:

Just heard the news. This must be what you meant at Grottoram.

In Dalpok now with another cannibal, 800 Pound Gorilla. Have other reason to be there, of course (see pamphlet) but am open to doing some research on the weapon while in the area.

Where is this pyramid supposed to be? Gps coords preferred. Feed and send parrot back with reply.

In Solidarity,

Mencken

The parrot flies back, hastily scratched in the blood of what is presumed to be another human is Grunk's response.

"I believe it is where the Queen lives. We will wrestle it out of their dead hands."

What about the Queen of Dalpok? Being Raktami, is she a legitimate target? If so, are there bonus points for killing her?

She's Dalpoki now.

Also I wouldn't want to Grief someone.

Post by: Dani on December 30, 2010, 12:34:11 PM
No, of course not. But it seems to me that if anyone knows where this mace is, she will, and if there is anyone in Dalpok who would try to prevent us from laying hands on it, it will be she, who was not even alive when we first reclaimed our ancestral right to the mainland. So I would suggest that bonus points be given for her death.

Already clamoring for bonus points?  I like your style.

We shall see how the contest unfolds.  As with previous contests, expect rules to morph throughout it.

snico is in... but her attention span is short so a month long contest might give you all a heads up on her.

If a cannibal killed is also a Slaughterer or above, do the -5 and +5 zero each other out with possible reduced points for the higher tiers? I'm not trying to be a total bastard, but if I happen upon any of you that are bleeding out in the field, I'm definitely going to consider doing the math on that ass.

   * -5 for Peaceful (0 Player Kills Bonus points null on these targets.)
   * -5 for Cannibal (Bonus points null on these targets.)

Bonus points null means you get -5 for the kill period

Huli Bluebeard has been spotted occasionally heading in the general direction of Dalpok. Whenever he is asked the brightly costumed cannibal has only mentioned "Heard Dalpok has some fine places to eat out these days."

Huli Bluebeard is joining the group descending upon Dalpok.

Look at the rules.

Dalpoks give you a 3 point bonus, but all kills count towards points.

You say “"Ah, ha!" the second cannibal replies. "No wonder ... those are FRIARS!"”
Kali'na takes another bite and then wipes the tear from her eyes from trying not to laugh but looses the battle and busts out laughing.
Kali'na kicks Graagh. "Why so quiet? Didn't you find that funny?" Kali'na grabs her pack and stands up then kicks Graagh again.

I'm so confused right now.

I killed FFFFFFFFFFF but forgot to post about it a day ago, so I'm not going to bother with the points on him.

Also I've been in contact with our hidden competitor, Ed, and he said he's passed some by because he thought Peaceful meant Peaceful intentions, which it does not.  So I believe that in future contests, this point system will be revised and whatnot.  Meanwhiel, Katie gets -5, cause Danella is a virgin.  A VIRGIN TO KILLING PEOPLE!

Kali'na looks at the mess she made and shrugs "That's the great thing about eating out...you don't have to clean it up."

I'm going to address this issue soon.  I'm thinking the Pirates are going to get involved, but I'm not too sure yet.  I hate that we seem to kill the same five people over and over again.

Perhaps the points required could be dropped to 200, so as not to overstep the bounds of fair play? Or add a 10 point bonus for killing a Dalpoki that hasn't already been a victim of the raid? We've been at this over a week, and most people are barely a third of the way to the winning total.

It seems to me the contest has gone sideways into a 'lets see how many times we can heal someone who is fighting the python' contest. The rules first stated we were to get points for only healing the ones in the contest which I did heal one cannibal with one herb not in the contest only because he was standing in a hut in Dalpok. The others I passed up and did not heal. Then the rules changed again to include pirates which I was all for since we seemed to be killing the poor Dalpokians to many times so I left to go find them. I should have stayed and farmed healed any cannibal from the damage the python was doing.

Ah crap. I was just standing there minding my own business when DoggyDogDog (http://www.shartak.com/profile.cgi?id=20990) walked up and stood there. In my excitment of not having to use ap to chase down a Dalpok and seeing he was from Dalpok...I killed him then looked later and saw he had never killed anyone. My bad. :(  I still ate him though.

But I did do this earlier....(2011-02-06 09:22) Exterminator894 gains 6 health from a healing herb

A small observation. Some cannibals have experienced difficulties insulting their victims. Good taunts come from the gut, not from the mind. Don't think too hard about them.

It's not in my nature to kill even in games so I have to think about it. You wouldn't believe how hard it is for me to play a cannibal let alone taunt them.  :? But I'm getting better...sorta

An explorer in the deepest Amazon suddenly finds himself surrounded by a blood thirsty group of cannibals. Upon surveying the situation, he says quietly to himself, "Oh God, I'm screwed."

There is a ray of light from the sky above and a voice booms out: "No, you are NOT screwed. Pick up that stone at your feet and bash in the head of the chief standing in front of you."

So the explorer picks up the stone and proceeds to bash the life out of the chief. He stands above the lifeless body, breathing heavily and surrounded by 100 cannibals with a look of shock on their faces.

The voice booms out again: "Okay . . . . NOW you're screwed."

Players (This is an IC board) Cannibals often find cannibals either highly suitable or not-so-suitable to their own personality. You're doing a great job based on what I've seen. From what I can tell, you're capable of dropping a mean razz ( the couple of taunts you made elicited laughter from me, I didn't expect a female player cannibal cadet to be so blunt).

Haha, you should have seen some of mine back in the day. Neil almost smashed my head with a watermelon in sheer crankiness.

People worry about their speech and writing because they feel they can do so much better, in hindsight of course. It's common to about 40% of Americans, including a younger me. But that kind of thinking is silly because humans only experience time in one direction. Why get stuck over the past when the future is the only modifiable variable? Be self-confident, not self-conscious. :)

I've told him not too give up, don't choose, just keep going after any targets, but he kinda wants to make a splash.  His fault if he loses it.

This time I was nervous when I went in to kill. I figured this would be my last one and I have not been killed yet even though I have killed with 5 pirates standing there. My time was running out.  :P

Quote
"I usually don't like pirate but I haven't eaten for a while. Besides if my stomach keeps making this noise who knows what will hunt me down."

Kali'na  pokes the pirate in the ribs with her sword "You're not divorced are you? Mom told me not to eat divorced men because they're bitter."

You attack Gideon Strain with a wooden club for 3 damage. They die. You gain 45 XP.
Underworld log successful .
You carve pieces off Gideon Strain and give thanks to the ancestors as you eat. You gain 3 XP.
You carve pieces off Gideon Strain and give thanks to the ancestors as you eat. You gain 3 XP.

You looks down at the dead pirate in puzzlement. "I don't understand why pirates is said to be the other white meat when you all taste like chicken."”

You carve pieces off Gideon Strain and give thanks to the ancestors as you eat. You gain 3 XP.

Kali'na shrugs and gets ready to leave. "If the Skygods didn’t want us to eat you, they shouldn't have made you out of meat."
You climb outside.

I was almost certain that I had an awesome symmetry here by having my last kill be the same guy as was my first contest kill, but it's not - my first kill (2011-01-18 00:04) was some guy named Ryan Coyle who I haven't seen around lately, but this cat was my second kill by only 4 minutes (2011-01-18 00:08)

Tempest Fennac

Kill +1
Dalpok +3
Butcher (81 PK) +3
Feasts +5
Taunt +?

Total: 12-13 points which puts my contest total at 307 (or 309 if you count the taunts from my last two kills)

My final stats included 21 Kills, no deaths (special thanks to Bobby the Hatchet for a well timed save up by the pirate ship the other day - I have a Heavy Sword for you as a token of my gratitude), 15 were Dalpokians (or whatever they call themselves) 5 were pirates and one was a passing Raktamite.

This has been a lot of fun and I hope to pummel many people with my new toy along side my fellow Rakmogaki Collectivists.

OOC: Ed Gein, can you please PM me a description of your character so that I may write up a short story of you gaining the Bludgeon.

Congrats, Ed Gein. I'm seldom one to turn down a heavy sword, but give it to Kali'na for schooling all of us and nearly catching you. Nice work.

*Kali'na frowns* How was I schooling you when I was learning from all of you? I still can't taunt anyone unless it comes out so corny and I kept having to go back since I kept forgetting to eat my kill. But I am proud I didn't get killed once.  ;D

I should add congratulations to everyone involved. It's good to see the Collective is still going strong.

As for Ed Gein's story, it will be out tonight, along with the wiki page.

The three natives warriors looked on in amazement at the figure before them.  He seemed to be a thin old man, carrying an odd looking backpack, wearing filthy overalls and old checkered hat.  The man grinned at the native warriors from Dalpok, "Good morning."

"Get out of here, cannibals have been raiding the town, they will eat you!"

"Ah," said the man, looking around as if a cannibal would strike at any moment, "One question before I shamble off into the mean ole jungle gentlemen, any of you seen a whooping stick?"

One of the natives looked at the other two, "He's one of them!"

Machetes whirled out, and the other two natives attacked while the third one ran.  One of them went to strike the old man, but instead it came in contact with a metal glove that was covered in gore, hooks and barbs.  The native warrior looked at horror as the blade shattered in the grip of the glove.

"Tkltchk hungry..." the cannibal brought the glove down on the warrior, who screamed in pain as he was practically eaten alive.

The other machete got intercepted by a blunt one, which was held by the Collective's leader, Grunk the Pale.  "Ed, get the last one, he knows something."

The old man nodded, and trotted off after the final warrior.  This warrior run into a hut, slamming the door behind him.  Seconds later, the door shuddered as something slammed into it.  The door shook again, then nothing, silence.  The warrior snuck away from the door, and worked at a hidden latch in the floor.

"Something interesting there?" asked Ed, the old man from behind the man.  He jumped, and promptly got hit in the head with a wooden club.

"Now, be a nice victim, and wait right here, would you?"

Minutes later

Grunk the Pale and Tkltchk walked up to the hut in time to hear the scream followed by a thud.  Grunk looked at Tkltchk "Looks like the Bludgeon was found."

Tkltchk held the arm of the warrior he killed tighter, as if he was daring Grunk to take it.

"Yeah, been in your gut before, don't want to be in there again, Ed, come out here and let's see this."

Ed walked out of the hut, holding a stone club that was almost as tall as himself, "Well well well, let's celebrate."

Tkltchk snorted, "My arm."

That night Dalpok burned.

Had a visit from The Man Himself and got my new toy (the whooping stick [or Bludgeon of Mal if you prefer]). It does 3pts of damage and has a 45% rate (wooden clubs are 50%).
