Raffle ended
The winner is Hassalac Chaar.
I'm leaving the below text for historical purposes.

-----

For just five golden coins you can buy a ticket with which you could win a legendary heavy sword!
It's very simple: you give five golden coins or more to one of the official ticket distributors (listed below), then you tell him or her you want to buy raffle tickets, and on the 23rd of December or later you check this thread to see if you're the winner.

Information
The tickets will be sold from the 13th of December to the 20th of December, except at the grotto, where they'll still be sold on the 21st of December.
These are the official ticket distributors and their locations:

Dalpok - Eudaemon, located in the hut one square south-west of the trader.
Raktam - Crowjane, located in the first hut one square north of the trader.
Wiksik - none.
Durham - Hideo Inakajimita, located in the hut one square south-west of the trader.
York - ArchbishopBlackburne, located in the hut one square north-east of the trader.
Derby - Janet Grey, located in the hut one square south of the trader.
The Shipwreck - none.
Santa's Grotto - Chief cookpot.

This is the only raffle planned, so you might not get another opportunity!

Details
-All ticket sales will be recorded in this thread.
-Each ticket will be numbered, starting from zero.
On the 22nd of December in Santa's hut, several coins will be tossed, their result will be converted to binary ("heads" will be one, "tails" will be zero), and the winning number will be decided by converting that binary sequence to a number using a binary converter (http://acc6.its.brooklyn.cuny.edu/~gurwitz/core5/nav2tool.html, for example).
If there is no ticket with the winning number, coins will be tossed again.
-The person who will toss the coins will be the event's organizer, Chief cookpot.
-To prevent a single character from having an unfair advantage over others, it is not allowed to purchase more than twenty tickets.
This limit only applies to in-game characters, not to players themselves.
-The prize will be delivered as close as possible to the winner.
-Once the winner is chosen, he or she has three weeks (tweny one days) to receive the prize.
If for some reason it was not possible to give the prize in that time, the prize will stay with the event's organizer.

Many thanks to the people on IRC, who supported me and gave me useful advice for this event

How many coins are you going to toss? If the number is not fixed, how are you going to determine it? You don't give us enough info to decide on a betting strategy  Smiley

So you have a heavy sword?

Yes

How many coins are you going to toss? If the number is not fixed, how are you going to determine it? You don't give us enough info to decide on a betting strategy  Smiley

I will determine the number by converting the number of the newest ticket to binary, and the amount of coins tossed will be the same as the amount of binary characters.
If I sold ten tickets, I'd toss four coins; if I sold twenty tickets, I'd toss five coins; etc.

And like mentioned above, there is no strategy.
You can, however, buy multiple tickets to get more chances to win

Eudaemon isn't where he's suppost to be.. five coins burn through my pocket.. I'd hate for them to not fall into the right hands..

I apologize for the inconvenience.
I have already contacted Eudaemon, and I'm sure this issue will soon be resolved.

Eudaemon isn't where he's suppose to be.. five coins burn through my pocket.. I'd hate for them to not fall into the right hands..
Eudaemon appears to have exhausted himself collecting supplies in the herb hut before returning to the bank. He'll probably return in a few hours when he wakes up. I'll see to it he remains there for the duration of the lottery. If you wish, you may safely slip it in his pocket with a note.

I bought two tickets from the guy in York running the templar bank, and also killed Otacon.

What an eventful day.

I didn't know I was involved with this. People started giving me money and mentioning raffles and I'm, like, what does this have to do with me. So now I know the score and have received money from:

Keichii: 2 tickets (tickets # 18 and 19)
Otacon:1 ticket (ticket # 20)

I'll put all records in this message, and will edit the message as the coin is left with me.

EDIT: Actually, I didn't notice that they are numbered, so I'll just add them in new messages each time.
