I have always been a fan of two dimensional RPGs. Three dimensional games aren't necessarily bad, I just like two dimensional games a lot, too. Altough today it seems harder everytime to find a good game that isn't three dimensional, as those games simply are more popular. On the forum I've seen more people who liked those games, so I thought it would be nice to start a thread about them where we can talk about the games we had, and which ones we liked most. Games I played and liked: - Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Illusion of Time, or Illusion of Gaia, depending on where you live. - Terranigma - Lufia II - Secret of Evermore - I'm probably the only person here who played it, but I must say that it was a lot like Shartak - Golden Sun 1 & 2 - Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and other similar games for the GBC and GBA. So, what games did you play? What games did you like? Tell, tell

Link's Awakening was my first video game! I beat it probably 50 times, then lost it
It had such a great plot, with the flying whale...was it the windfish?

Final Fantasy from I to VI, multiple times. Download SNES emu and go with the flow! Also Chrono Trigger is not that bad. And Bahamut Lagoon, though I played it only for a little while and all these japanese little bugletters made my mind explode several times.

'Raider' is a platform RPG by Pseudolonewolf of Fig Hunter (Guy who makes his own games, has a forum...popular online community)
I advise checking out his games. Deliverance is another good game, more RPGish than Raider, which only has elements of RP. Raider is fully RP, and has a proper storyline. That's funny.

I think it was. And yes, it's a great game Altough I never managed to get all the pictures from that mouse Also Chrono Trigger is not that bad.
I've never played it, but I heard it was a really good game, and some even claim it's the best RPG of all time. 'Raider' is a platform RPG by Pseudolonewolf of Fig Hunter (Guy who makes his own games, has a forum...popular online community)

The Zelda-series are more adventure-games than RPG's, actually. Otherwise I can certainly agree with Link to the past and Awakening as two of my favorite games as well. "Windfish" is correct, though it looked and sounded pretty much like an "ethereal" whale, yupp.
Always been a fan of the Seiken Densetsu-series (secret of mana), and I've played and enjoyed Secret of Evermore as well. Otherwise mostly in for mixed strategy and rpg's in two-dimensional games, such as wesnoth or the brilliant age of wonders series.
Recently gotten my hands on FF6 and finally gone through most of that little legend, and got through part of Chrono Trigger, until the game got stuck and refused to continue in the first distant future-part, and I sadly havent been able to proceed with it since then.
Oooh, interesting that you mention bahamut lagoon there, Lama... There was quite an interesting amount of characters they got involved in that immersive story. Might have been a bit unbalanced at times with how the dragons wiped the floor with enemies without effort, but I loved it none the less. Especially the part with how the main character really didnt take too much place in the story, but just were important due to his position as battle strategist and dragon caretaker.

Legend of Mana was a pretty sweet 2-D RPG. The end boss was just stupid, so I never actually beat it, but I had a lot of fun not beating it.
Does the SNES Ogre Battle count as a 2-D RPG. Whatever it is considered, that game is just freaking awesome, I wish I had an SNES copy, they are like gold.

I'm not alone! If I ever create a new native character, I'll probably call her "Fire Eyes", and if I create a new outsider, I'll might call him "Horace", as tribute to that great game Final Fantasy Tactics for playstation is also a good game.
I never had the pleasure of playing that game, but I did, however, play Final Fantasy Tactics for the GBA, altough it drove me crazy When my SNES broke, I only had my cartridges left, and I thought I'd never play my favorite games again. That's when I found that link, luckily Also, a great game for the PS1 I forgot to mention is Alundra.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance also made me crazeh because of all of the bogus rules that the judges made help. WTF is a stave, I said at first. And who the hell uses a bell to fight?
