Knights of the IRC Channel have been formed with the sole shameless mission of promoting use of the Shartak IRC channel.  Membership is open to all IRC users/contributors.


How to get on IRC:(This guide has been lifted and edited from here)
   1.  You'll need a client, if you don't already have one. Windows users can use X-Chat (http://www.silverex.org/download/). [N.B. Use this link and not the official xchat website as otherwise you will only get a free trial version.]
   2. After you install and launch it, you'll see a window labeled "Server List".
   3. Set the nick name(s) you want to be seen as. Then, click the "Add" button. Type in "Shartak", then click edit.
   4. Replace "newserver/6667" with "irc.efnet.pl". [N.B. If "irc.efnet.pl" does not work try "irc.efnet.org" instead.
   5. Click the "Connect to this network at startup" check box.
   6. Enter "#Shartak" in the "Channels to join" blank.
   7. Then click "Close" and double click on the "Shartak" network you just added.

What times are people usualy in the irc channel server timewise?

Always. Not that it is bursting with activity 24/7, but due to limitations of planet earth and its timezones there is a chance you find someone alive there every time you log in, be it day or night or some other time.

Due to the global appeal of Shartak, there's normally someone active on.... there are also sleeping people who stay connected to the channel but they normally give you clues, i.e 'Spookey^' is active, although not necessarily at the keyboard, whereas 'Spookzzzz' is probably sleeping

This one guy known simply as "Shartak" is almost active 24/7, so you could always try to talk to him.
Some times it takes him a bit to answer, though, but you should just wait

We should see if we can adapt something like KoL's Chatbot. It's responds to requests and such, for rolling dice and that sort of thing. And if you hug it, it hugs you back!

Is that sort of thing feasible in IRC?

yup, there are multiple bots. We had a slutbot asking trivia questions (trivia my...) and also fun game with putting bomb in the pants. Simon somehow didn't like that one though since malice is gone the bot's gone too, but we could think of a new one. Anyways, come and visit - and join.

Most people tend to be around between 5pm and 8pm GMT although today was pretty "busy" with the numbers reaching the mid-teens. At least you'll be able to use Blahmicho as your nick.. there's a character limit that's annoyingly short but if I remember correctly, it's 9 characters.
