Any chance that one is still there?

Seriously people, post in the thread when you kill one of 'em... >_> maybe we should add suggestions to this effect on the Wiki or something (something like "it's highly recommended to post in [link to thread] when one kills a [Python/Giant Squid] so that others know to call off the hunt)? That sounds like it might be helpful, actually.

Scorponok has Found and Died by a Giant Clawjaw [squid] at [-70.200,+26.595], but has managed to take it down to 377 before previous injuries and 10 of his own Life left to him Left him.

Is that one still alive?

Hum... could some more experienced hunter give me an estimate of how far they tend to move in 4 days? There's 2 different directions to go and I don't have much idea how far to follow one before giving it up, quite annoying.

Scorponok guesses it's vital signs are still pulsing, and within one day it had moved 1 SW of his position. What that means for the rest of it's movement pattern is anyone's guess. It's a definite 'Team Beast', stab it with your steely knives, and kill it.

AlexanderRM hasn't found it in a fair distance both directions... looks like it's most likely quite a distance S and W of it's last reported location, unless it's dead or possibly in shallow water (which AlexanderRM will at least glance over tomorrow).

It may have been too many days now to find it now. I don't know the movement rate of these things.

You attack the giant squid with a heavy sword for 5 damage. You gain 5 XP. It drops to 222 HP.
A giant squid attacks you for 5 damage.

She's right here, just south of Durham at (-70.651, 26.311).

I could honestly do it in myself if I spent the XP on extra AP, but I figured maybe someone here hasn't had a shot at one yet...I've healed myself up so it should stick around at least a few more hours...

Regaining your balance after what would have been a complete miss, you manage a glancing blow.
You attack the giant squid with a machete for 1 damage. You gain 1 XP. It drops to 136 HP.

[-70.643,+26.333]. You know, I could probably kill this one too with my 38 herbs using AP-XP, but... uh... well, then I wouldn't know what to do next. I guess I'd just pump up my kill count while hoping to find upgraded animals and waiting until Halloween. Well, mostly it just doesn't feel right. It would be awesome to kill a Giant Squid straight from 217 to 0 by myself in 1 day, but it just feels weird. And I might wind up doing that anyway in 2 days, if nobody else arrives and chips in.

Edit: Whee! Found it again at [-70.642,+26.325] after expending a fair bit of my daily AP searching. I ran through my 15 darts pretty quickly before going on to XP -> AP, did that twice before finally, with my very *last* AP...

19 minutes left to regain an AP.

Well, anyway, waited 19 minutes and...

Had 13 minutes to regain AP waited and:

(2012-02-21 02:12) You attack the giant squid with a dagger for 2 damage. You gain 2 XP. It dies. You gain 153 XP.

FINALLY got it. Out of AP now, so I guess I'll have to stumble north to Durham tomorrow. So, Giant Squid and Python done... I guess now all that's left to do for the next 8 months is wander the island killing animals in hopes of stumbling upon an upgraded one, unless Simon ever brings back the Sacred Space (in which case I'll kill Trader Tamdal before going back to that). It's a long haul from here on. I suppose I can still keep track of squid and python sightings in hopes of getting an upgraded one of those.

I ran into one at [-70.172,+26.445], right off the North coast of the Eastern Peninsula and South of Tarak's Split at about 8 or 9 AM server time. I think I had gotten it down to about 173 HP before I got back on land to heal, which was a mistake.

That was about 6 hours ago, and It's long gone now. Unfortunately I don't have swimming, which makes the chances of me finding it again very low. It looked like it was heading East when I attacked it, but it honestly could have gone anywhere after that.

I spoke too soon. [-70.171,+26.447]

It will follow you to shore if you move slow. It does make it easy to find later but good show on finding it again this time.

Off topic, but hey.
