This has come to my attention after watching the new Michael Moore documentary, Sicko. I was utterly suprised to find how bad healthcare was in the United States and how easy and free it was in Canada, Great Britain, France, and even Cuba. Considering I am an American Citizen, I have been wondering if this has affected anyone else in the United States, and even abroad. People out of the country, did you know we didn't have free healthcare and that people are denied at the very whim of the health insurance companies?

Yes. DENIED HEALTH. Health Insurance companies, who apparently help us out when we need it, only for a "small" fee, will deny people the ability to get treatment if they can't pay or something is "wrong" with them. So if you have a heart attack at 22, and they deny you, its probably because you are "to young". You may die. Who knows.

Anyone else as appaled as I am?

I'm appaled that the USA works like that. But I'm British, so I can only say one thing...
'You shouldn't have left home in the first place!'

I suppose we probably pay higher taxes to keep free healthcare in, but i'm willing to, when i pay taxes that is.
I had a nasty (almost to the bone) cut in my arm when i was about 10. (i've still got the scar, its way cool, and because its never fully healed, it looks like someone's nibble part of my arm away. but thats not the point...) point is, it cost my family nothing for the surgery! Bwahahaha!

Why do you think the US doesn't have healthcare?

Heard of it before, and was rather disgusted by it as well, although its hardly surprising with corporations trying to control peoples lives in all other aspects, so by that logic, why not have money decide who lives or dies too? Whats next, having the fire brigade only taking cash up front payments to save your house from burning down? Money shouldnt ever be the main concern for a business, and that is an extremely important reason why corporations need a whole damn lot of moral restrictions to halt their abuse of human rights.

healthcare in the US is pretty shocking, but the weird thing is that people in britain complain we pay really high taxes, but in the US taxes are even higher! so the question is what is all the money being spent on? ill give you all 3 guesses  Shocked

Side note: If money shouldn't ever be the main concern for a business, what should?  And more to the point, how do you intend to convince CEOs, shareholders, and most importantly investors that money should not be the main concern?  I'm not disagreeing with the basic sentiment, I'm just wondering how one would make it work.

The army, Iraq War (Or Genocide if you ask me, it should be called the Iraq Genocide. 100,000+ Iraqi's have died since we got there...), and Bush's Retirement Fund

I know once I get the chance im going straight to England, becoming a citizen, and doing Shakespeare there

Hey hey, I never involved realism in saying that. I was just making a statement on how things should be; not including the bastards responsible. Otherwise, force would seemingly be the only reasonable way to get these almost-criminals to stop. New laws restricting them and running over all attempts to whine about "unfairness" by just stating legally why they cannot continue as they do. And better shut down the stock markets while we're being active cleaning out the smog covering the "top layers of society" as well.

Im from France, so I've never really payed attention to the health-care situations in other places. I live in America at the moment, and I have not yet visited a hospital or anything of the sort. I cant wait to go back to France, however.

You asked "Do you believe in love?"
and I shook my head
So, your sins unto me as I fall down
never to return from this land
My wings are clipped, my voice stilled,
Goodbye.

1. The Millitary - money wasted.
2. Bush's elecution lessons - money wasted.
3. The music Industry*
*Industry, like a production line, churning off identical emo bands, rappers, pop groups and so called 'indie' bands that sap the population's morale, making them suceptable to thought like 'Ahyuck, lets go WAGE A LAND WAR IN ASIA  '
