Derby is home to two closely allied clans: the Derby Hospitallers and the 1st Derby Privateers.  Together, both groups work to make Derby a better place to live.  The Hospitallers maintain a hospital and an academy in central Derby.  The Privateers' headquarters can be found in northwestern Derby.  All Derbians are welcome, provided they abide by the rules of their respective clans.

I was thinking about our two clans the other day, would it be correct to say;
The Privateers are like the full-time police force, and the Hospitallers are like the nice bits of ordered society? (health,                        education                              and millitia/special police.)
1. They run a hospital, 2. they run the academy, 3. they give millitant aid in a raid.

I've noticed that division of labor myself.  The Privateers focus more on police duties, while the Hospitallers run other services.

I like it this way, if we all did both then we'd step on eachother's toes and possibly end up killing cleared suspects. And the labour would be spread too thin for an effective force/staff.
plus, its good for RP.

EDIT: 2 minutes later i remember who you are! hehehe, i'm loosing my memory.

So now there's no excuse not to join one of us!
Want to heal and train? The Hospitallers is for you.
Want to be a policeman? The Privateers is for you.

Both of us have projects on, the Hospitallers are at work with a cool looking academy idea, and us Privateers are looking into a tavern like Czechy's in the trader's hut. what kind of university doensn't have a bar on campus? hehehe

So help us to help you enjoy life in Derby.

Say, do you think we should have a latin motto? like 'Heal and Kill'...but in latin? open to suggestions, i'll search for the latin if we get a cool motto.

No, that'd be "Zoombie quod Barnes es magnus effeminatus."

There's halfway-decent translation engines online. Just be careful with anything complicated, because they'll tend to mangle the case endings for sentences that aren't simple declaratives. You need something equivalent to many years of suffering in Catholic schools to handle poetic phrases, for instance.

I have to say that i think the Derby Hospitallers seem like an honourable group that will surely bring great benefit to Derby. I give them my full support and will allow them to wash my admirable back next time i am in Derby and in need of a bath.
The Derby Privateers on the other hand seem to me like a foolish and irresponsible group. Anyone that sides with Pirates obviously approve of their baby eating, thieving, hamster-roasting and general maraudering activites. I can understand the will to protect Derby with force, but siding with Pirates and their inhumane activities will only bring great suffering and itching in awkward places to the good people of Deby.

The thing about Latin is that it makes everything sound cool.  How does one say "Derby's soil is made of bleu cheese"?

Locative case is tricky for place names, and bleu cheese is a little to recent to have an equivalent, so we'll use "blue," the color, instead.

Maybe, "Terra Derbeum est no puteulanus caseus."

We've now proven that not everything is cooler in Latin, I'm afraid... Wink
