Beat him savagely with ridged sticks, then toss him in seaweed and leave him for the turtles!
But we already harnessed all of them!

I trained some in my basement to be man eaters! Then I injected them with the X19 virus, now they're frankenturtles! They had the taste of human flesh and can't get enough of it!

I was going to write something about how I used to be around, then I quit, then I came back, or something.  But... that wouldn't be weird enough for this forum Tongue

Hello,

A player contacted me in-game and said that someone was looking for me in the forums. I was aware that the Shartak forums exist (the "forum" button at the bottom of the game UI was a helpful hint of this  Grin ) but I hadn't read them, and didn't intend to register.

I prefer to keep all my character activity in-game. It seems more challenging, and makes the characters seem more real and "alive", to do that. Having said that, if something my character(s) said or did was of sufficient interest to prompt a forum invite, then I'm flattered. If my characters seem to have distinct personalities, and have added a little bit of flavor to the game, then I've done my job as a gamer.   cool

I play Shartak (and a few other games) to keep myself entertained while at work. Browser based MMOs suit this role well, because they don't demand real-time attention, and have a daily AP cap to keep them from taking too much of my time. My absolute favorite game of this type was Nexus War, which I played for several years. It was through the Nexus War community that I found out about Shartak.

I like Shartak - it has strong color and ambiance, and the game mechanics lend themselves heavily toward one-on-one, player-vs-player fighting, which can be a lot of fun.

The name 'happy trauma' is just a goofy username that I made up a long time ago, and have used in several different online games. In the context of Shartak, I decided to play my main character as a xenophobic native warrior in the mold of ClickClick. I then had to somehow justify how such a flamboyantly indigenous personality would have a goofy name made up of western words, like "happy trauma". So I decided that it was a phonetic approximation of his true name in the ancient Dalpok native language (his character profile gives this information), which I think is a pretty good excuse for it. Wink

As for me, I'm married w/ young kids. I just don't have the bandwidth for a lot of forum activity, so I want to reiterate that I'm probably not going to be much of a presence here. Anyway, I don't like to coordinate in-game activity through forums or IRC, since it seems like meta-gaming. But thanks for the interest and the invitation.

Best wishes, & see you in game.

Hi Happy!  Welcome to the forums.  On that note, have I murdered you before?

Hello there!

Believe it or not I'm actually not new to Shartak - I'm a returning player. I think the last time I was active was around 2008?

I used to occasionally post nonsense as well as upload (often completely stupid) Shartak related comics and art on the forums.

Rumaging through an old hard drive and came across a long neglected folder labelled  "Shartak"  Contained in this folder was a bunch of half-completed charcter profiles that I had drawn but abruptly stopped. They were a ridiculous amount of fun to draw and I needed a break from various boring work stuff. Before I knew it I was browsing the wiki and completing several more drawings - and I thought "hey that game was awesome! Why aren't I playing it?"

I had fond memories of all the drama and role-playing shenanigans.  Also its quite rare for an online game to have such a well defined and entertaining history, complete with battles, social-upheavals and historical figures.

It's cool to see Shartak is still so active! But woah, so much has changed!

Anyway, I'm mainly going to be wandering around ingame as my pirate character G3N, but I'll probably post some more stuff to the forums as well.

Hi! I hope I'm not bringing you an injustice by indicating people appreciate your work, but those comics are a large part of the reason I signed up to the game. Welcome back

Hi, I'm new, I like cats and music, and books, and dogs, kinda, and drawing, and OH cats!

This game looks like fun, I found two Heavy Swords in a hole just now! I wonder if they are some sort of pirate treasure or something. Are they, like, valuable items of some sort?
