Cannibal lvl 29, Old meat lvl 28, and Dice is lvl 28. It won't be long now, maybe a couple more months until max.

We'd best get busy picking the next lot of skills to add then! Post links to your favourite suggestions (existing well discussed suggestions) - if it's a new idea, create a new thread and post the link. Split Iceman's question to another thread

Split Iceman's question to another threadthe return of faith would be a good place to start. maybe with a new ritual to earn it? say, place 25 skulls on the alter of the temple?

ooh, i like that one. he should wander around like the shamen do. or maybe just use the wandering shamen, and make players track each one down in turn, without knowing which charms to give to which shaman.

You trumped me right there! Or if its easier to code you could just interact with each Sharman, all of them even home camp ones.

A way to unlock Faith would be cool. However, it probably doesn't need to be *too* hard considering that the original method was to spend a few AP chanting at each of 5 stationary pillars in a very close area. Collecting one of each type of charm sounds cool, and/or maybe having the pillars moved to areas around the island...
Ooh! What if it was unlocked by chanting at each of the old Sacred Space gates or having the pillars be placed at those locations? That would be very cool, to give those things a function again, even if only a small one. Maybe just the ones in the villages (it took me a second to remember there were like 3 outside villages) or maybe only some # of them, but I suppose all 11 wouldn't be a massively challenging quest.
If you wanted to make it more complicated, it could also involve the mountain somehow; maybe you'd have to also visit an NPC on the mountain and give him one of each type of charm, after visiting each of the 11 gates. Or maybe the NPC or somesuch could be located in that little area on the mountain that wasn't in the sacred space (the sole remaining hole in the map... though I did kinda like having holes), and after visiting all the gates, you get the one-time ability to go through one (required to have all the charms, perhaps) into that area to visit the NPC. Or maybe just have the 5 pillars be in that area, so you go there and meditate at them.
Anyway. It could be anything from what that idea wound up as to just going around to each of the old gates and once you visit #11 you unlock Faith, but I just think it would be cool to have the gates be involved.

honestly, i just think that making players do things to earn their skills fills a major whole in the game.

I agree. I just think all the ideas suggested so far would take a ton of effort. Especially the one about finding a particular roaming shaman and giving him a charm. The equivalent would be successfully finding the ghost ship to unlock the pistol skills for all classes. It's a neat idea, but I don't think it'd get a lot of use.

well ideally there would be a range of skills, with the requisite quests varying in difficulty so that the more prestigious or powerful skills are harder to learn than the lesser ones.

Well - aside from the cult popularity --can I use that on a forum nobody goes to anymore?-- Faith's not all that powerful or prestigious. If anything, I'd say it's more of a badge for people who were around for SS, that may or may not have much impact on charms. I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend 1600+ XP on it, in addition to doing some loopy quest. Mind you, if all I had to do was the quest--if that's what you're saying, my mistake--then it wouldn't be too bad.
But yeah, ideally If I'm going to be doing a fetch and carry deal it better be worthwhile. Like 'learning how to possess animals' worthwhile.
