Anyone else having this problem? Ubermap doesn't load... and the weird thing is that it just keeps trying to load forever, including the Ubermap script, which means I've basically had to turn off my GPS units with all my characters, because Shartak wasn't working. Is anyone else having this problem (I'm literally 99% sure it's the Ubermap as a whole), and is there anything that anyone can do to make it go back up?
In general, could someone *please* at least tell me who runs/hosts/whatever's it? I've been playing this game for 4 years and seen it go through several similar periods as well as multiple weirdnesses in relation to game updates and such, yet I still have literally no more idea of who's responsible for it than I did when I joined the game. There doesn't seem to be any presence of anyone involved, except that it keeps coming back after these periods of downtime, and all that, and furthermore simply is still up after all this time, so someone must at least be paying for the server.

The first time I encountered ARM's posts, I thought I was reading a instruction manual written by someone taught english by a parrot. These days he reminds me of someone who started a blog about every inanely trivial setback in his life with excruciating detail.

But yeah, it appears to be down. This has happened before. Give it a week or two for someone to fix the server with a frying pan. If it's not up by then, whip out the rosary beads because the world is turning upside down.

I am having trouble too. I am even having trouble with the game lagging a lot. The other night the game was down for hours. (Middle of the night for me)

Ubermap's run by someone else, not Simon... But someone has to let Simon & Jaqs know so they can contact the Ubermap guy and ask him to reboot the server, or fix whatever is wrong.

as i understand it, ubermap dude doesn't actually play the game anymore, so it might be a good idea for him to turn over the keys to simon & jaqs.

I tried accessing the ubermap page because I think the guy's email was listed, but it's completely down.

It's still possible to tell how far away it is to each camp from your current location (on Chrome), it's just that you can't see the map anymore.

We've sent a message to the person who runs the UberMap. Hopefully he'll get it sorted soon

My thoughts exactly. Or to anyone who plays and is active.

@ Killy: I suddenly had the urge to wonder how exactly someone taught English by a parrot would talk, and now I feel like I want to suggest a story involving said person. I still can't quite think about how they would talk, but I just love thinking that.
(I'm guessing you mean a fictional type parrot which is mysteriously intelligent and can sorta understand what it's saying? That would be somewhat easier to figure out... I guess you couldn't really learn English at all from a real parrot. Sad too, if it were hypothetically sorta possible that would make a much better concept than "learned English from someone who starts every sentence with 'squawk!'")

My mistake, I should have picked an animal without a sense of humor.

Not the island map really, I can remember all the major static parts of that (and the map overlay still works), the only part I really use when playing is the local 15x9 or w/e map, especially in road building (both to see where roads are and to record the repairs I've made). That's also the bit that forced me to turn my GPS units off (or to go and turn the script off, which I didn't feel like doing) so the pages would ever stop loading. UberMap also has various uses you don't really notice until it's down, though.

Sorry. I did like the idea... I think it works pretty well if you ignore the part in parenthesis. >_>

Anyway, UberMap's up again, thanks Simon+jaqs and person who runs UberMap!
Though I would still suggest that the UberMap be run by someone else who still plays the game. I admire person who runs UberMap's commitment in keeping the thing up for a game he hasn't played in so long, but if someone who still plays could run it it wouldn't be necessary, and maybe they could even work on upgrading it.
