Hey everyone give me your input. Do you think I should buy the Kindle Wireless Reading Device? I am considering of buying it for my friend as a christmas day present however I could use your input before I go and get it.

Do you have another thing better I can get personally for a similar price??

Merry Christmas!

Hmm, I'm not familiar with that device. Could you tell us a bit about it, preferably including a link where I might buy one too?

I heard that you can get a Nook, and then add an SD card to it (with the correct software added to it) and it'll be just like an iPad, with a full eBook library, and without the obnoxious size

I believe it's cheaper than an iPad.  Not sure about that though.

I'm amused that this is in the wrong subforum, but I'll chime in anyway.

The Nook and Kindle are both quite nice. Most of the 7" models, regardless of manufacturer, are comparable. The Nooks have a nicer display while the Kindles tend to be a bit more userfriendly.

Whatever you end up with, kick in the extra $20 for a touchscreen model. It makes things much easier when you're reading scanned books and documents (which are often free or .99 downloads). There's a Kindle model with "free" 3G to Amazon's store, which is nice in areas without access to wi-fi.
