Cyanides are produced by some Bacteria Fungi and algae and can be found in a number of food and plants. Interesting... Cyanide extraction of gold may be used in areas where fine gold bearing rocks are found...
The cyanide technique is crude and is commonly used in low grade gold and silver ore processing. I see...The group led him down to the cellar, where they served him cakes and red wine laced with a massive amount of cyanide. Oh my... Wrist dart gun: Can fire both cyanide-coated and armor-piercing darts. He uses these to save himself from a centrifuge and kill Hugo Drax. Good grief... So, it would appear we already have in place all the ingrediants to (Save the odd skill or two, maybe)... # - Extract cyanide from Fungi. # - Use cyanide to extract gold from the ore. # - Lace food and drink with cyanide. # - Create poison darts. All that would be needed would be a few subtle alterations in coding, which I should imagine could be cut and pasted from other areas within the game, and implementation from Mr Amor.

Make it a scientist only skill and I think you have a winner.

Cyanide extraction? William Jennings Bryan is rolling in his grave. I like it. This would open new avenues for happy political accidents. Edit: # - Lace food and drink with cyanide. This part seems out of place.

I was thinking the same thing but thought I would leave it to the general mass to determine. I would say a native class also, to balance things out, maybe villager.

# - Lace food and drink with cyanide. Lead Belly provides immunity? If so, Raffles approves of this opportunity to poison unwary Hanged Misfit patrons.

Only scientists and villagers could detect poison in food or drink, Pirates with lead belly would be immune but notice once they eat / drink it.
But the real cool bit would be the gold!

Haha...like they would even buy anything from you if this went through. Good thing I trust my booze suppliers. This really does sound like a interesting addition though. It might not work most times with so many being weary of it but when it did...bam!...you're dead.

Rather than point out all the things wrong with this idea, I direct you to the last poison thread. Saves time.

Cyanide? All of the cool kids are starting fire in huts and poisoning people with carbon monoxide.

I cant read so I win.
Besides, its not all about the poison idea, to be honest I only put that in as it is the most commonly known use of cyanide. Also who says it has to kill someone stone dead? Maybe just knock them 1ap+ per move like other poison does (Spider and Fungi)? Until it wares off after an ammoutn of moves. It could be concealed the same way salt water is. I see no problem with this. Like it or not it already exists in principle.
But like I said this, to me, is more about using cyanide to make poison darts and get the gold out of the rocks.

Yeah but, why do you want that? It reminds me of suggestions to make healing herbs. Why bother? And gold is already useless, so I'm not sure I see the point of bringing in cyanide to get gold out of a specific area of the map, which once you've got it isn't good for jack. But I guess considering you suggested bringing in 'cading straight out of UD, it shouldn't be surprising that you want to bring in game mechanics from DiL too, again regardless of the idea's merit.

1 - Unless you are refering to a herb I have no idea what you mean by DIL.
2 - Gold dosnt mean gold coins. Gold veins can be found in rock, why not use them.
3 - Are we not allowed to suggest ideas from other games? Whats so bad about that? Combining aspects from products is key to success in many areas of life. Adapt or die. -----
By your logic in the last post whats the point of anything? Why do anything? Why suggest anything? Notice boards? We have signposts, dirt and sand to write on and in. Cutlass? We have machetes. Daggers? We have knifes. Healing herbs? We have first aids kits. Gems? Meh! Basic blowpipe use for none warrior class characters? Meh! Feature voting? Meh! Im not sure if I want to mention Pistols and the lack of a supply of Pistol bullets from any other source other than the impossibly hard to find ghost ship in case you explode in a fit of `thou shall not pass`.
Guess we should all just curl up into a ball and die, or maybe we should build `spirit fences` (Barricading for spirits, how ironic) because you know, well, its not like we dont have any other means of getting rid of spirits is it?..............oh wait, according to the Wiki it appears we do.

DiL is Dealt in Lead. There's a mining mechanism in that game very similar to what you're suggesting here.
It's not like borrowing stuff from other games is taboo, it's just that it tends to make for stale gameplay in many cases. Like armadox said, if I want to break down cades I'll play UD. If gold had an actual purpose in Shartak I'd be all for your cyanide-mining idea, but it doesn't so to me it sounds like a quick novelty that people would get bored of after a week.
As you may have noticed, I specifically pointed out how boring and stupid my own spirit-fence idea was when I criticized your 'cades idea.
I agree that it's probably fairly easy to code. And it's not like it would upset any balance. I just don't think it's all that interesting an idea, and I can't imagine ever trying it out more than once.

Throughout history, gold has been and is still being used for medical and health issues. Edible gold and silver have been used for centuries on foods. I've used the gold covered round sprinkles on cakes before. You could mix in some of the extracted gold with an herb and put it in some kind of juice. Maybe you would have to ferment this juice with yeastweed as the next step to make it bit more complicated to come by. Either way, you could then use it as a antidote for the poison dart or the spider bite. Who knows.

I suggest turning the gold veins into some kind of other vein, like maybe a diamond vein, and then make it so that when you collect it, you can go trade in whatever resource it is at a special hut for some kind of item you can only get by going through the process. Yet, make collecting it difficult and full of danger.
