A fairly simple idea:  You are able to make a "Skull Jack o'lantern", by using a skull and piece of driftwood.

Or, instead, a skull and some timber.  Any combination of skulls and fire/driftwood, whatever makes the most sense and is easier to code.

I'm not sure if this should be a native ability, or just an ability for everyone.

In my opinion, it should be a year round ability, as opposed to just being on halloween, since we can carve pumpkins year-round.

I'm also not sure if you should be able to excorsize spirits with them.

Or if they can be placed down so they can be part of the "backround" of the square you're on. (Exactly how rocks and other items can be placed down in Nexus Clash).  By doing this, this could be used to ward off spirits, or block you from one of their wails.  Of course, the spirits could possess you to attack the Skull Jack o'lantern and break it.

Please discuss this piecemeal suggestion Tongue

I like this idea. A "shield" against the power of the damned. Not too overpowered, just increases the odds of the spirit's wail failing as normal. And then, of course, they can break the ward. It'd make a new dimension for spirits.

Although I'd have to say a limit of 1-2 skulls. Otherwise you get 100% block and that's not fun for the spirits (remember, ghosts are people too!)

We spirits can be so overlooked and not seen as people. (snickers) Even though I am tormenting York's med hut, it really doesn't seem fair that they can't do much to me.  Having them kick me out 6 squares is nothing and where I wanted to go after I wailed anyway. This lets me wail a couple more times and doing more damage knowing I won't have to spend the ap to move. They really shouldn't kill every shaman that comes through and tries to help. Now that I think about it, they deserve every wail I do. (snickers again)

Actually the people in the medhut are the ones who typically like having natives around. I remember a time when the REAL Yorkmen would attack and kill everyone in the medhut regardless of whether or not they were from York since healing is treacherous and a profession for the weak. Oh the good old days. If a man wanted to get healed we'd throw him in the swamps and let the leeches suck the evil spirits out of 'em. yeah, that'll show 'em.

Spirits were people. Sometimes they were even simple, peaceful healers and traders of gourds before they were brutally murdered.

Need a cough drop?

So anyway, it'd be good to see a use for skulls other than showing them off or putting an excessive number of them on signs. It'd be neat.

Been there, done that.

It was a crappy idea at the time and it's an even worse idea now since I'm not the one suggesting it. Spirits are annoying :palm:s, but fortunately they can't do a lot of damage on their own so I don't see why anything more is needed than your standard jack-o-lantern, or a shaman if you want to validate that otherwise useless class.

Yeah, except that if other spirit skills are added it would be better.  Spirits need more "stuff".
