First up against the wall whenthe revolution comes

The heavy sword feels uncomfortable in his hand. FirstAmongstDaves is happier with the notched blade of a cutlass. But with heavy swords for sale at the Derby trader, who was he to say no to such a sharp weapon?

Derby's streets are quiet. The pungent scent of yeastwood fills the air. There is the usual constant plopping sound of swamp muckers from the west, and the occasional moan of disappointment when someone has discovered yet another blunt machete. Parrots screech from the jungle. The vague muttering of a Derbian curiously named "emmmm" haggling with the trader can be heard as a dull mantra of bartering. And ahead, the raucous noise of the Hanged Misfit Pub.

Ten unloaded pistols weigh down his trousers, threatening any casual passer-by with the sight of the FirstAmongstDaves buttcrack.

Hitching up his pants with his left hand, and trailing a heavy sword in the dust with his right, FirstAmongstDaves quickly but quietly walks up behind punklover, who is apparently urinating on a pumpkin bush just outside the pub.

This Derbian soldier is notorious for hating pirates. Punklover is wearing a well-worn uniform in Prussian blue, with a rifle slung across his shoulder. FirstAmonsgtDaves squints his eyes and cocks his head. Is that a "KICK ME" sign stuck to the soldier's back?

The sword sweeps in arcs, and the soldiers falls dead, scarcely making a sound. There is a look in the man's eyes as he dies... contempt, perhaps. FirstAmongstDaves looks startled, than shrugs. He pins a note to the dead man's bloodstained hat.

The note, in overly elaborate and pretentious hand-writing, reads:

Quote
People of Derby!

The Winter of Terror continues! Eleven people within the Derby precinct have been slain by my hand, without answer from your so-called protectors! Some of them I had to kill twice as they didn't look very dead the first time around! Here's the list:

The deaths will continue until my demands are met! I will let you know my demands once I have a spare moment to collect my thoughts!

Yours, etc.

Rear-Admiral Dave "FirstAmongstDaves" Daves.

Nodding to himself in satisfaction, FirstAmongstDaves scampers off westward. Or perhaps north. Maybe south by south-east. No doubt somewhere involving deep water or deep jungle. Possibly.

Finally caught by Winston T Monocle! And in real time! I'm pinned down in very deep water and with next to no HP left!

And killed. Well played Winston. Although you got a little lucky: I attacked Noahsan, realised he was from Durham, healed him up, and was left with little AP.

Christ, give me a break. I wasn't going to bother saying anything but that's just ridiculous.

You had enough AP to run well into deep water to the maps edge, while also stopping to attack me and healing yourself at least once. It took around 50 AP just to track you down. Considering I only took one swing at you before cornering you, you had to have used a similar amount. If you'd retreated along land you'd have had over three times as many moves to get away and no edge of the map to block your path, and you probably could have lost me. You were not unlucky. You used well over half a days AP and purposely chose the direction that would leave you with the fewest actual moves. However you were extremely lucky you weren't caught inactive.

Furthermore people not being from Derby hadn't stopped you previously, going over your list at the start of the thread (Conu'co, Fish Oil, flounder, and fluffhead are all from other villages), not to mention people with zero kills (Conu'co, Eliza Day, clutch, Jake Jackson), and people at level 0 (clutch, flounder, and possibly Jake Jackson and Jason O'Mara too, since both are only at level 2 and you killed them 6 and 7 days ago). So seriously, give me a break. Over half your victims were peacefuls and non-Derbians, and you have all of two Derbian victims above level 3 on your list (EDIT: actually only punklover falls into that category, re-checking it).

Yes, and more innocents will die until my demands are met! But I accept the implicit challenge: I will start targeting combatants.

As for your indignation, I had 37AP. I found you by the swamp, realized I hadn't sufficient AP to kill you, and scampered off like a giggling school girl. If you hadn't woken up, or if I hadn't spared Noahsan, you'd still be looking for me. Let's see how many kills I get in before you can find me again. Muwahahahahaha!

WTF are you talking about. What demands. Why is it when you work hard to help newbies stay in this game there is always someone or some clan that wants to come and tear it down. You of all people, FAD, should be trying to help keep newbies stay in the game instead of killing them. We have done our best to just ignore you out in the swamp so you could get your jollies and hopefully leave. My bad.

Since the time of the Pirate contest, The Collective, had been attacking...especially the newbie cannibals. It turned out it had been forgotten to call them off once the contest was over but thank goodness that has now been done. There is also a couple a spirits having a blast wailing in the sword square which makes all of the players there very easy to kill. More like sitting ducks if you ask me. It's one thing to go and kill the farmers in the swamp but you killed a newbie Derbian with no kills and then came into the bar and killed her again. Did you really have to do that?  Another newbie from Derby came into the bar asking what could they do about being killed all the time when all they wanted to do was grow apple trees. Yeah...you killed his friend, emmmm, who was helping him. Winston did just kill you for that killing.

(OOC) I have not been playing Katie all week and I don't think she will be back for a while either. Just too burnt out and it's not helping I have been ill for months now.  By reading my post here you can see I need to take a break since I am sounding pretty grouchy which is not fair to anyone.   Sad

If there was any implicit challenge it was for you to stop being a hypocrite with your excuses. I didn't really care up until that point. You've already shown that you don't care at all whether or not someone is from another village when going for an easy kill (and Noahsan was the easiest, as he was closest to the beach). You had a number of better escape options. Or you could have waited for me to attack, gotten low on HP, and then healed yourself, forcing me to waste a tremendous amount of AP (it's what I would have done, and if you're a PKer who walks around with less than a dozen FAKs before stopping to replenish you were just acting like a fool).

37 AP is little?

A giggling dead schoolgirl. Being eaten by jellyfish.

If you hadn't woken up, or if I hadn't spared Noahsan, you'd still be looking for me.

If you're being truthful, mathematically you would have netted 8 AP at most, which would not have saved you.

Let's see how many kills I get in before you can find me again. Muwahahahahaha!

Does this include people more than a week old, who have a single kill, and are actually from the village you're purporting to target? If so you know where to find me. Perhaps you can top two in a row this time.

Done, old sock. I'll wager you a heavy sword I can kill 5 combatants in a row before being pinged again. I'll save a special slot in that list for you! And if I can do that, all you have to do is sing a Judy Garland song in the Hanged Misfit, dedicated especially to me. Perhaps "Somewhere over the rainbow".

Bet? I actually haven't re-spawned yet and I am way out of Derby so you have an advantage already, in that I have to travel to get there. You never know, Winston old pot, you might even get a heavy sword out of it. Or I might get serenaded by your golden tonsils.

You know I find it amusing that FAD was upset with behaviour directed at him in York and yet here he is in Derby killing and then killing again newbies

Someone might argue these are two different scenarios but my point is he is quick enough to run to Simon when he is not happy about something but then here he is slaughtering innocent newbs - is that good for the game? Maybe we should report that to Simon? 2 kills on an innocent newb is that griefing? This attack on Derby with these so called demands that I have not heard and some of the main characters in Derby have not heard which continues is that griefing?

Maybe we should pass a rule that ALL peaceful players with no kills to their name and below a certain level should be kept safe.

Hang on, so we're not allowed to kill people anymore? Unless they say we can? Give me a break. There's a world of difference between using potentially offensive language and playing the game using the basic mechanisms. Killing is an integral part of the game - offensive behaviour is not. Killing low-level players is deplorable, but not unacceptable - and if you're killing peacefuls in their home camp, it's barely even an inconvenience for them.

Daves likes to initiate a bit of conflict, is all, especially when he thinks the game is getting dull in a specific camp. I doubt he wanted to initiate all this flapping and crying. Shanks, you're making an awfully big deal out of a throwaway comment and a bit of trash-talk. If you really want to make him go away, ignore him. I'm considering coming to Derby to kill a few people myself, just on the basis of your pedantry.

Well not that we cant kill anymore but anyone below level 3 IMO should be exempt unless they have shown a violent tendence

Twist is right of course. If it ever got boring in Derby, as it did in Rakmogak and York, I'd be heading somewhere new. Shanks is being a little precious about me making excuses for finally getting killed. I'm hoping he takes up the bet. I'm looking forward to hearing Winston T Monocle warble.

C Whitty - I'm hardly bothered by my characters getting killed. Shanks was in fact congratulated in game when he caught FAD. The complaint to Simon was in relation to a player using words like "darkie" and "cocksucker" in relation to other players. (And in fact my characters were never actually killed by those other players, as best as I can recall.) So yes, the distinction makes all the difference.

I dont doubt that your not bothered FAD about being killed but im bothered by you killing newbs and not just once

On a side note please when you have a chance come to the Derbian swamps as I have a debt to repay you or PM your co-ords and I will keep them to myself

OOC: I don't know how many of these "newbs" are actual new players and how many are new swordfarming alts. As far as I'm concerned, FAD can purge the swamp on a daily basis and there'll be no damage done.
