On this day, 10 July 2011, we, The Durham Drifters, do declare full ownership of the independent Outsider camp of Durham, and all of it's outlying municipalities. Following this declaration all hostile action inside of the city proper will come to a full cessation, and all future hostile actions will be dealt with individually. All actions and behavior taken prior to this declaration will be regarded as actions of war and pardoned in full.
All groups, businesses, lodges, social clubs, clans, corporations and other such combines will be allowed and encouraged to continue their operations, so long as their actions are not detrimental to the new government of Durham.
Until such a time as deemed fit, Durham and outlying municipalities shall operate under Martial Law until such a time a full government can be organized.
Any complaints should be taken up with a member of the Drifters.
- Signed, Roderik

Dani al-Ghazali studies the pamphlet carefully, pursing his lips in thought. Finally he writes a short message of reply, embosses it with his star and crescent seal of office, and sends it to Durham by bat-wing
Greetings exalted strangers,
As overseer of the Durham peninsula, I am pleased to see new life breathed into that prosperous village so dear to my heart, though it is unfortunate that so many of Durham's citizenry had to be slain before you felt confident enough to declare yourselves. Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing the shape of your plans for Durham unfold--what new services shall you be offering its people, that they lacked before? Security from kafir native invasion? A hospice for the weak and injured? Firemen to see to the jungle fires? Training facilities for the young to gain XPerience? Small diversions and entertainment to comfort the bored and awaken the lethargic? Ruling Durham is no small affair, I can tell you first-hand, but I am certain you will do fine, and I look forward to meeting you when next I am free to return. I am, at present, on the road, so please direct any replies that way.
Allah's Just Deserts Upon You,
Dani al-Ghazali Mukhtar (Governor) of Durham

The Kingdom of Wiksik congratulates the Drifters on removing the savage murderers from power in Durham.
Long have both natives and outsiders been terrorized by those that solicit their dark trades in Club Palermo.
Burn that place to the ground! I'm sure they're not keen on returning to the fires, but we need to send them on their way.
And beware of al-Ghazali, his face shows friendship while behind his back he holds the dagger of شيطان

Kindly stop killing me. I'm a peaceful sort in the Durham Med Hut, and while 12 AP a death isn't very troublesome, it stings a little. Thankya' kindly. The guild wonders... Will the drifters be removing the ban on the practise of necromancy enacted by Solemn of new haven?
That was a gentleman's agreement, mostly OOC, to help keep the forums sane and halt our bickering. Bark about it now however you like, all you had to do was approach me on the matter.

My level of complaint is a machete straight to the face of any of your members I come across. Durham isn't yours, but keep on thinking so.

I don't believe in cops, bosses, or politicians. Some call that anarchism, I call it having a :palm:ing heart that beats! I do believe in freedom and never giving up. Call my methods madness or call them luck. I do what I got to, to feel able to breathe! And if you quit your job well, you can do a little breathing with me.

Well my hand is out there for any Durhamites to reach for in search of help if you do not wish to suffer at the hand of these thugs. I will stock up on bullets before I head to Durham to fight against these men.

It will be interesting to see if you can hold Durham and its surrounding area, New Haven especially could cause you problems as you will need to have a presence there and thats going to dilute your numbers.
Theres a lot of good killers in Durham thats another issue and if they decide to stand against you things will get messy, Dani tried it in my opinion the right way perhaps a little bit more subtle than yourselves he politically moved himself into power and the mercs for a period allowed this...im not so sure the mercs are going to sit back on this one though.
Although in hindsight perhaps your more forceful approach is best because if your at the whim of mercs as Dani was power can be precarious, but if you rid the town of them then you have free rein - could you work side by side? Maybe.
If you take over the Palermo or run your own boozer then I'd make sure you got Prune Juice on tap because Worf scented battle a few clicks away and he is heading over.
OOC what a very good development in the game, a new dynamic bravo chaps, looking forward to this rp over the coming weeks.

Nice try, but New Haven is busy sipping rum and eating mango danishes. It doesn't really care who claims Durham or the land, as it will be doing its own thing in a peaceful manner.

Or a threat and nary one stroke of the ol' jungle chopper, eh? Well, I was a peaceable sort of chap myself before I found that there was justice to be delivered in me hometown. Your harsh words have been noted, but your lack of criminal action has been noted too, good sir. Samuel Briggs, humble soldier of the Durham Drifters.

Just keep your ragtag transients out of the bloody Palermo on anything other than recreational pursuits, and everyone can go about their bloody business. You don't want to piss the boss off, trust me.

Well, as a citizen of Durham, surely you have some way to gain the support of the people of Durham, right? If you so-called drifters can't do anything to benefit us as citizens, then we shan't need your "leadership." So, what do you drifters bring to the table?
