Chapter 1. Hafta's Transcendence as an Omen of Union

In the Raktam healing hut.

Medical Hut
A shaman has been busy preparing healing herbs and has left plenty of small bundles of herbs hanging from the ceiling whilst they dry out.
Carved on the wall is some writing. It reads “Cause no harm to the fair and innocent. Heal and assist the injured and weak. Do not judge by mere appearance, whether pirate, outsider, cannibal or native.”

Here you can see FishOutOfWater, Nihlia, Cobalt Manticore (68 of 70 HP), Death Becomes You (58 of 60 HP), kiwimage, Big Hungry Joe, and Rusty Razor (48 of 50 HP).
You can see 1 outsider. You recognise Pelleas .

Blue Hummingbird says “In Wiksik, Mortis takes glee in the destruction of the Royal Court of Greater Raktam.”
Blue Hummingbird says  “The Royal Court is not destroyed. We are Regent of the Court. We shall choose a new monarch. Who is willing to ascend to the throne?”
Blue Hummingbird lifts her hands to the heavens. "We will ask the skygods and the ancestrs to rebuild the Royal Palace, which will incorporate the tombs of the dead Kings and Queens."

Hitodama says “Wow, its fish out of water! Can I, like, have you autograph?” (2011-06-01 13:57)

Cobalt Manticore says “Oh that's not all. But I'm not sure if you're ready to know how deeply this corruption goes.” (2011-06-01 14:50)
Cobalt Manticore snaps awake, eyes wary, "Was just communicating with one of my Clanimals. He's in the middle of another disposal of a threat to our group." (2011-06-01 14:52)
Cobalt Manticore covers one eye, then another, squinting, "Is there some mystical reason why I can see through walls, to the East to see a Native standing outside the hut I am in now?" (2011-06-01 14:53)
Cobalt Manticore says “But wait, he is not outside... he may be underground? When did our Medicinal hut sink into rock walls?” (2011-06-01 14:54)
Cobalt Manticore tosses a handful of rune-marked sticks onto the floor. They land indicating Air, Water, Air and Air. (2011-06-01 14:55)

Rusty Razor says “(yes, Hafta is next to us Tongue)” (2011-06-01 14:55)

Cobalt Manticore says “Clouds fogs, concealing bogs, may look light and ...” (2011-06-01 14:56)
Cobalt Manticore says “Oh, that's what that is.” (2011-06-01 14:56)

Rusty Razor watches the sticks on the floor "does that mean...that is actually Hafta's spirit?" (2011-06-01 14:57)

Cobalt Manticore says “Well, I'll just assume he does what he hafta, hwah hwah.” (2011-06-01 14:57)

Rusty Razor scratches out what was carved on the wall. (2011-06-01 15:02)
Rusty Razor carves something onto the wall. (2011-06-01 15:02)
Rusty Razor says “heh heh..” (2011-06-01 15:02)
Rusty Razor scratches out what was carved on the wall. (2011-06-01 15:03)
Rusty Razor carves something onto the wall. (2011-06-01 15:03)
Rusty Razor says “(my mistake x.x)” (2011-06-01 15:03)

Tkltchk kills Pelleas with Kalmogal's Glove. (2011-06-01 20:36)
Tkltchk hisses menacingly. "Meat not tell Tkltchk where hunt. Meat go away, not strong enough fight Tkltchk. Kill you, eat you." (2011-06-01 20:39)

Cobalt Manticore says “Where does he ever get such wondrous shiny toys...” (2011-06-01 22:03)
Cobalt Manticore says “Hm, maybe our problem was centralized government, figureheads, royalties that could be easily found and killed. Bad for morale.” (2011-06-01 22:14)
Cobalt Manticore says “What I wonder is about things the Outsiders call 'Democracy' and 'Cabinet', and for every Raktamite to claim a hut and govern it, lord their lands, guard their stake.” (2011-06-01 22:15)
Cobalt Manticore says “Thus would we all be kings and queens, very little inequity to quibble over and jealous on about, delegation of responsibility for self-government.” (2011-06-01 22:17)
Cobalt Manticore says “Otherwise, your people lean on you as your enemies rain down upon your head, that'd fairly drain the wills to live.” (2011-06-01 22:17)
Cobalt Manticore says “Mass Propdos to whoever is strong, or just daring enough to assume the helm but the downfalls I would not envy. Raktam is troubled, what does Raktam say about new Royalty?” (2011-06-01 22:19)
Cobalt Manticore says “Maybe we see about holding a vote? Again, just a wondering. I myself I am too much a savage beast to adorn and posture in royal trappings but I try to defend my habitat and those who are good for it.” (2011-06-01 22:21)
Cobalt Manticore collects the head of Pelleas. (2011-06-01 22:22)
Cobalt Manticore holds up a creepy skull. (2011-06-01 22:22)
Cobalt Manticore says “This one's for Pelleas when he come back I suppose, ha ha.” (2011-06-01 22:22)

Rusty Razor says “wise words Cobalt Manticore...I am still young and unwise but my mind finds agreement to the words you've spoken” (2011-06-02 01:29)

Blue Hummingbird says  “The problem with representative government is that our community is too small to properly exercise power. If we were to sit in a Parliament, it would result in two of us talking to each other. ”
Blue Hummingbird says  “We have seen this happen in both Derby with the Eastern Federation (the Tower of the Parliament stood empty) and in Durham under the Burgundy Administration and its repeated failed elections.”
Blue Hummingbird says “Would each of you willingly sit in a chamber and discuss and vote upon policy? Or be out in the jungle securing our borders and hutning those who hunt us?”
Blue Hummingbird says  “When We were monarch of Raktam, death visited me very frequently. We often considered ourselves to be like the shamans: there to serve a function, rather than be engaged in any real activity.”
Blue Hummingbird says “Even a Quest to find a successor to the Throne could leave us with another Baraka: a king who prefers to roam the jungle and eventually disappear, rather than take on matters of state.”
Blue Hummingbird says “Thus we have the current stagnation of Raktam. No political leadership, no people acting in concert.”

Nihlia says “Hmm. I'm still collecting my thoughts... My mind has been wandering the last couple of days.” (2011-06-02 02:15)

Cobalt Manticore says “Action is preferable to Position. {OOC: I"m not done levelling yet lol} Back IC: Throne Room got rather boring for me. I find I'm of more use in the healing hut or afield, tracking blooded footprints.” (2011-06-02 02:42)
Cobalt Manticore says “On the homeland, we hold the advantage, those who roam afar have seen to that. They may bring life to whoever is killed but they exact a weightier price to those dispatched away from their own nests.” (2011-06-02 02:44)
Cobalt Manticore says “I do tend to roam abroad myself, but if it is my mission to defend Raktam I can do so indefinitely.” (2011-06-02 02:46)
Cobalt Manticore says “Whether my prey be living ot dead they soon find I am one of the masters of the living and spirit worlds. I Heal, I Harm and I Harness the Spirits.” (2011-06-02 02:47)
Cobalt Manticore gestures to Blue Hummingbird with his ornate staff absently as he continues gathering herbs, "What of you? You have led Raktam before. Would you be the One to Do So Again?" (2011-06-02 02:54)
Cobalt Manticore packs his medicine pouch til it is beyond full, "Your Return Must mean Something. Hopes and Portendious Omens abound with such a return." (2011-06-02 02:56)
Cobalt Manticore twirls his skull staff, "Besides, you've got Experience on your side." (2011-06-02 02:56)
Cobalt Manticore tosses a handful of rune-marked sticks onto the floor. They land indicating Water, Earth, Water and Earth. (2011-06-02 02:57)
Cobalt Manticore says “Swamps...” (2011-06-02 02:58)

FishOutOfWater says “Anyone else think it's a bit strange having Hafta hanging in limbo over there?” (2011-06-02 05:53)
FishOutOfWater looks sideways at Hafta. (2011-06-02 05:53)
FishOutOfWater says “Maybe I can scare him off...” (2011-06-02 05:54)
FishOutOfWater holds up a bloodied skull. (2011-06-02 05:54)
FishOutOfWater says “Nope, that's not it...” (2011-06-02 05:55)
FishOutOfWater digs around in his backpack. (2011-06-02 05:55)
FishOutOfWater says “How about THIS!” (2011-06-02 05:55)
FishOutOfWater swings a ghastly jack o'lantern around. (2011-06-02 05:55)
FishOutOfWater looks deflated. (2011-06-02 05:56)
FishOutOfWater tosses a handful of rune-marked sticks onto the floor. They land indicating Water, Earth, Fire and Earth. (2011-06-02 05:56)
FishOutOfWater says “Stupid sticks.” (2011-06-02 05:56)

Rusty Razor says “that's it! why not have a small council to take turns listening to our ruler's spirit? I doubt outsiders can do much to harm the royal court then” (2011-06-02 09:56)

The ghostly voice of Pelleas says “Hafta's appearance in that wall is a sign that he should be your next ruler!” (2011-06-02 11:44)

cactus1 says “I come in peace, would you mind if I gathered some of your herbs? And do you guys need any outsider goods for me to bring here in my next trading round?” (2011-06-02 12:27)

Death Becomes You says “I believe there should be an inner circle of ones faithful to Raktam” (2011-06-02 21:19)
Death Becomes You says “And we share power through consultation and democracy” (2011-06-02 21:19)
Death Becomes You says “I am tired of fighting for causes I do not believe in and I cannot follow one sole person he does not hold Raktam and our native brothers to heart” (2011-06-02 21:20)

Cobalt Manticore nods, "Maybe one to represent the Shamans, one to represent Scouts, one for Warriors, and one to represent the Villagers. Representatives of 1 or more for each facet of our citizenry." (2011-06-03 00:13)

Nihlia says “Okay, I can concentrate better now. Hmm...” (2011-06-03 00:54)
Nihlia scratches out what was carved on the wall. (2011-06-03 00:59)
Nihlia carves something onto the wall. (2011-06-03 00:59)
Nihlia says “Feel welcome here, cactus. Not sure what our villagers could need from foreign towns, but I might be interested in any rarer wearable trinkets, should you find any. I have a quite a few already.” with a slight accent. (2011-06-03 01:11)
Nihlia says “Concerning forms of "government"... I've always remained more an anarchist than anything. Rulers come and go, clans form and dissolve, but I and this hut have been here since ages past.” (2011-06-03 01:38)
Nihlia says “I already formed Nsoromma not long ago, for those seeking to defend our native ways without hatred in our hearts, to support cooperation between native towns, and to never give up, no matter what.” (2011-06-03 01:39)
Nihlia says “...but that clan is not meant to lead Raktam itself. Merely to see to it that we stand proud and strong, even when the weather is harsh and unforgiving, and our kin has disappeared into the wild.” (2011-06-03 01:40)
Nihlia says “And becoming one of Nsoromma, the children of the heavens, is no small task in itself. I must first know that I can trust you, and that your heart is in the right place. First then will I invite you.” (2011-06-03 01:42)
Nihlia says “So back to the matter at hand... An actual ruling government. Hmm...” (2011-06-03 01:43)
Nihlia says “Well, if Hummingbird is determined to bring the court back, then that can certainly work. She created it seemingly from nothing once, so if anyone can restore it, it would be her.” (2011-06-03 02:24)
Nihlia says “I'm personally just still a bit critical towards the stigma it has gathered over the years, and worry about the impact that would have on our home as it is today. Hmm...” (2011-06-03 02:24)
Nihlia says “While outsider ideas of democracy are sound, we need to look no further than our own common sense to find similar ideas of our own. We need not imitate them, when we can do things our native ways.” (2011-06-03 02:25)
Nihlia says “Raktam has always been the safest of the native towns due to its location, and as such, it has naturally become the center of our civilisation and culture when populated and defended enough.” (2011-06-03 02:38)
Nihlia says “The important thing is that we speak up and make sure that our community remains active in one way or another. I for one will always be here, should anyone need healing or advice. I'm just... slow.” (2011-06-03 02:51)
Nihlia says “Think we need figureheads in some fashion. Roaming lone hunters and scavenging townsfolk without guidance will form no functioning village. Even if just to share wisdom, we need to act as elders.” (2011-06-03 02:52)
Nihlia says “Well, I think I've said enough for the time being. The choices concerning this are in your hands, not mine. I just share what I've learnt over the years.” (2011-06-03 03:09)

Blue Hummingbird says “This manifestation of Hafta in the grey limbo of the healing hut is very curious. Could Pelleas be right and Hafta is the One Chosen By the Skygods?”
Blue Hummingbird says “We think that if Hafta does not accept the role, We will assume the throne again. But, as you can see, We are now a native of Dalpok. So, Our first role will be to integrate the Royal Court into a ”
Blue Hummingbird says “governmental structure that also supports Dalpok. This can either be through the existing Empire of the Mountain. Or it can be through something new. We shall call a congress on this to discuss it. ”
Blue Hummingbird says “ClickClick styles himself the "guardian of Dalpok", but it is in fact Azuma who is the presiding elder of Dalpok. Azuma is a friend of Raktam. Nihlia, if We send out a message to all who wish to be ”
Blue Hummingbird says  “heard on the issue of political union between Dalpok and Raktam, will you preside over the discussion and allow it to be determined in this healing hut?”
Blue Hummingbird says “We propose the merger of the Royal Court, the Empire of the Mountain, and the Dalpok Liberation Front into something larger: thus Dalpok will have the resources of Raktam to defend against the pirate ”
Blue Hummingbird says “menace: and Raktam can call upon the Dalpoki to resist the cannibal scourge which currently besets us.”

Nihlia says “Certainly. Here is where my words are heard strongest, and I consider Azuma a friend as well.” (2011-06-03 03:20)

Blue Hummingbird says  “Excellent. Then let the word go out: meet here, and talk of union between Dalpok and Raktam.”

Nihlia says “Very well. I'm just rather bound to this hut myself, and I did ask you to be my voice out there before, so if you could do the middle ground talking between towns, then that would be appreciated.” (2011-06-03 03:26)
Nihlia says “I will take some time to meditate now...” (2011-06-03 03:30)

Blue Hummingbird whispers to a courtier, who sprints out of the hut. "The message has been sent to the Empire's followers. Contacting the members of the Royal Court is trickier with Sofaking apparently dead..."

***

And so the word went out: come before Nihlia, in the Raktam healing hut, and speak of union between Dalpok and Raktam.

[OOC: Anyone who wants to talk about this, from any camp, is welcome]

I'd like to see this, although I don't really have any natives that would be majorly involved at the moment. Even if it's just a temporary thing until player numbers and interests sway so that each village has it's own independant power once again.

I vote for Lord ClickClick.

Sister Raktam,

A strengthening of the old alliances is suitable. Native imperialism is not. We Dalpoki decide our own fates, as individual hunters.

Hafta declines any offers of crowns. They cause him neck cramps and metal headgear makes him nervous around lightning. Besides, supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not a shiny hat.

The Dalpoki have no need of those who talk endlessly. The Raktami have grown soft, living behind their silk curtains and sitting upon down-filled cushions. Lacking even the strength to lift their own limbs, they require servants to tend to them. We of Dalpok follow the ways of our ancestors, and our blades and darts keep our brothers and sisters safe where your words will not.

There are those in Raktam who are not without strength and honour. I see none of them before me.

Ratwiddle says “that is. I gathered myself up and crept along for a few hours until I MET A TREASURE hunting team of SKYMEN. I know you're all asking if any of this is true and the answer is yes, probably a lot of it” (2011-06-05 14:08)

Ratwiddle says “different story. Anyway, we reached the HQ and started some kind of hip fight with them. I took down at least two spiders while the SKYMEN used their SKY-POWERS (underground?) to start destroying the ” (2011-06-05 14:18)
Ratwiddle says “other guards. Then the lead SKYMAN went up to the treasure and started laughing. One of the dying spiders started trying to click a few dying words to me but because they usually do that and just pack” (2011-06-05 14:20)

Ratwiddle says “last time. I don't want to bore you with all the cool descriptions of the battle like when I threw a gourd of fungi juice in one of my assailants eyes and the extra AP temporarily blinded him so I'll ” (2011-06-05 14:27)
Ratwiddle says “cut to the end. It was just me and the leader of the fake skymen. He had the noseguard and used it's powers to melt my wooden club in my very hands. However as my imaginary mother always tells me,” (2011-06-05 14:29)
Ratwiddle says “overreaching ambition invites disaster. I ducked under the next beam of wooden club melting power and it hit a bit of the cave wall. As you may know, whoever built the caves used extremely poor ” (2011-06-05 14:31)
Ratwiddle says “workmanship cause the entire place started to collapse. 'NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!' I think my opponent said, although don't quote me on that as there might have been a few more O's in his No.” (2011-06-05 14:32)
Ratwiddle says “I yelled at them to run away quickly but their refusal to leave without the Noseguard ended their poor lives as A HUGE GIANT DAGGER shaped pillar crushed them all into a thin red paste. Putting it all” (2011-06-05 14:33)
Ratwiddle says “behind me, I walked off into the sunset, a hypothetical sunset of course...whatever the sun is...” (2011-06-05 14:34)

So, I think the outcome of that is:

a. Nihlia is Anarch of Raktam.
b. Cobalt Manticore is Warlord of Raktam.
c. There is no union with Dalpok.

The end.

Finding some good stuff when searching back through this collective memory, curious for mentions of my name, and if I didn't know me better I'd say having Me as a Warlord for Raktam could go horrifically wrong. lolz Ask a Tiger to Guard your herd of Deer. But I assure all that all I do, no matter how chaotic or uninformed is for the good of the Whole, even if the toes of the Few, or any One get stepped on.
