So what books shall I take out today?
Please suggest whatever, I'm not a picky reader. In fact, just think back to books that you yourself thought were good. I'm counting on your good taste in literature to be my guide.

If you want something light hearted and funny then read the M.Y.T.H. Adventures books by Robert Aspirin. I actually laughed out loud while reading one at the doctors office. If you are in still in the fantasy mood then all the Xanth books by Piers Anthony are great. I love the use of puns throughout. Example: Butterfly...yep..pad of butter with wings flying around so if you want some on your toast you have to go chase one down. During a war you would raid the cherry trees because..well..you know...you need cherry bombs. Writing letter to the readers in each book is just brilliant.

I don't believe in cops, bosses, or politicians. Some call that anarchism, I call it having a :palm:ing heart that beats! I do believe in freedom and never giving up. Call my methods madness or call them luck. I do what I got to, to feel able to breathe! And if you quit your job well, you can do a little breathing with me.

World War Z by Max Brookes. Best book I ever read. I own two copies, one for work and one for home, and have easily read it twenty times.

Yeah, it's amusing enough, but it's not even in the same league as World War Z. I'm glad I didn't read it first, or I might not have bothered with World War Z.

Rant Chuck Palahniuk
The Colossus of New York Colson Whitehead
James Ellroy's L.A. Quartet (The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, L.A. Confidential, and White Jazz
Almost anything by Raymond Chandler. In particular his Philip Marlowe work.
If you yourself are interested in becoming a writer- or just like the way someone adept in their craft can string words together, take a peek at some of these.

You guys didn't disappoint, there are a lot of good suggestions and my list has increased significantly. I asked requests from the few other forums and I got little response. I look forward to reading a number of these titles. The only problem is the local library actually doesn't have as large a selection as I'd have liked. Only a third of the books on my list will be found on their shelves.
So I've been reading: So far Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises kind of bored me. There was another book, a German writer... but I couldn't finish it, it left such little impact I can't entirely recall what it was or who it was by.
the other German author didn't disappoint, Hermann Hesse, I read Narcissus And Goldmund and Beneath The Wheel and liked both. I read JPod by Douglas Coupland, it was okay, it entertained. Life of Pi by Yann Martel was interesting. I finally got around to reading Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, amazing I hadn't actually
And now I have been reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel, suggested by Mencken. I few other suggestions that looked interesting from other posters The Kite Runner is on my list, The Colossus of New York, American Gods and others!
