Wouldn't it be funny if Simon had moved it (say, to the York Peninsula) and just didn't tell anyone?

They could make one or two angry threads about it, but it probably wouldn't get them anywhere.

Probably not.

This is all the info I have collected on the ship a while back. It may or not help but then again it could just be too confusing.  Grin

Hum... having trouble understanding what that even represents, don't really have time to look at it too hard ATM. Did it seem to actually be moving square by square? I suppose it could easily do so (and be a LOT easier for the server to decide where to move it, I imagine), and that would make a fair amount of sense. In any case though, it tends to move in short jumps, so it should still be somewhere in the area I found it last?

It sounds like the latest co-ordinates we have on it is the ones I found it at, -70.524,+26.410 from September 26.

Manhunting the ship sounds... I'm not sure how well it would work, actually. Certainly, it's not like Giant Squids and Pythons where we need to pool resources to kill it (the individual crew members, that is), but yeah, if it moves to contiguous squares or nearly so, then it should still be effective at finding it, since when one person sees it, it'll still be in that general area when the other searchers close in. Centering our search in the area of -70.524,+26.410 will probably help a lot. Yeah, sounds like a pretty good idea.

Each coordinate is marked by a letter or number and beside the numbered squares is the time I caught it move from one square to the next. I just followed it for over 24 hours. You can see by the pictures what the path looked like when I put each coordinate with it's corresponding number in.
In the following... and if you look at the picture already posted...I landed at the burgundy/red spot. By the time I logged in I saw the ship in yellow square A then watched it move to B then C. That was the route it took. I wasn't keeping track of the times then.

Yellow squares
[-70.569,+26.393}A
[-70.568,+26.393]B
[-70.567,+26.393]C
[-70.566,+26.393]D
[-70.566,+26.394]E
[-70.566,+26.395]F
[-70.566,+26.394]G
[-70.567,+26.393]H
[-70.567,+26.392]I
[-70.568,+26.391]J

The numbered squares is where I did keep track of the time I saw it move along with the coordinates. The next time I got on the ship again it dumped me where the Lt. Blue square is so started following it. I checked in every 25-30 minutes and would see that it had moved starting at square 1 then 2 etc.  As you can see the ship moved ever 30 minutes or so. I was hoping that if it started over it's same tracks I could figure out the time it would be at any of those coordinates. I never did get to finish since the sharks were eating me and I was running out of med kits.

Huh, found it AT LAST, at [-70.532,+26.397]. It feels really weird, because I actually just forgot which direction I was going and just went off to a place I was pretty sure I'd just crossed, but after all that time worrying about search patterns, I just randomly stumbled across it. I suppose that is how it gets found, really...

My ultimate, epic battle to defeat the foul Captain Briggs played out to the extended version of "I am The Doctor" (though in hindsight it might have been better to do, say, the Pirates of the Caribbean theme)... and was over before it finished, unfortunately, consuming only 23 poison darts, around 30 AP, and 2 Bottles of Fungi Juice, though I did break one machete on his tough hide. A bit anticlimactic after searching for so long, but still very satisfying.

Hum... oh, say, that's just in time to prepare for Halloween, isn't it? Very good thing I finished him when I did, or I'd have either missed Halloween or had to take a break from the search.

Well, it was... wow. WOW.

On September 26, I found it at [-70.524,+26.410].
On October 23, I found it at [-70.532,+26.397].

That's a difference in location of 8 squares West and 13 squares South, after almost a month (27 days).
Obviously, it most likely moves faster than that and just went back towards it's old location, so it definitely moves a lot faster than that, but still, it stayed in a similar general area.

Actually... someone else got to [-70.532,+26.397] and it wasn't there, correct? Because I just logged in and AlexanderRM is still inside the Ghost Ship, which I would think means it hasn't moved since then.
Unless dead bodies are carried around with it, but I really don't see any reason for that to be... it appears (based on the map) that the inside of the Ship technically occupies an area way off in the ocean, and presumably, coding-wise, characters are teleported to and from there when they go in and out of the ship, which would indicate that depositing characters outside would most likely be a deliberate eviction protocol rather than an unavoidable result of the coding to make the ship move, so maybe dead bodies aren't evicted. Does anyone know for sure about this? Or could Simon answer, if he reads this or someone contacts him? This seems rather odd.

Hum... upon emerging from the Ghost Ship as a spirit, I am definitely in a different location. For the aid of those still hunting, it's right next to the shallow water around Unity Island, to the East of said island, and relatively northward; on the map it's the square east of the northernmost map square which is partially land, on that side of the island. Uh... I think that was a fairly confusing description, but I hope it should be of help. Basically, East of Unity Island, JUST on the edge of the Shallow Water.

Maybe it's doing this route that it had done before. This is the map Bobby posted earlier in this thread. It would be great to get what I mapped put into this one and any of the newer coords to see what it shows.

LOL sorry. I must have gotten confused somehow or... something. No idea why. >_<

Anyway, to correct my previous statement, Cobalt Manticore got to those co-ords and it wasn't there.

It'll Always be in Deep Waters right?

We can't get hard evidence of that (unless Simon has made a statement), but with the number of data points we have that seems incredibly likely.

(also, pardon my ignorance, but what does the second line mean? I can't make heads or tails of it.)

It's a Mixup of Still waters run Deep. A metaphoric phrase. Some things are just exactly as they seem.
