I need to know how any loving caring god could let a thing such as this happen? As a fan of nineties music I can not condone such a travesty. Smells Like Teen Spirit gets  ed by little Wayne.

Click if you dare. Some explicit rap lyrics but other than that it's not that contravention... unless you have any respect for any kind of music that ever existed. Oh sweet god, is that autotuned vocals? Just when you thought this couldn't get any worse.

That lil'grill-totin' fairy needs to get an original thought in his head and not crap on other people's ideas for a change.

I felt the same way when Puff Daddy dropped a big ole corn log on Kashmir. I was actually more ashamed of Jimmy Paige for going through with it.

Any and all rap that extends beyond the 90s is generally dreck, same with country. Actually that's how I feel about the majority of the music of today.

I have to say that there is plenty of music that has come out in the past decade that I have enjoyed, of course I have an extremely broad taste in music. As for rap definitely started turning sour in the late nineties. older music is typically better then what's coming out new, but there are still plenty good music that's surfaced recently.

And I'm not against sampling, if it can be done in a way that improves the original sample. But in some cases it just doesn't work. Smells Like Teen Spirit can not work as a sample, it completely undermines what the  song was when it first came out. I think any punk or grunge song shouldn't be sampled. The rap of today is not about rebellion or angst.

Look at one of the earliest examples of sampling and rap, Rappers Delight. Do I like that song? You bet I do. Do I like Chic, more specifically the song Good Times were Rapper's Delight lifted the bassline along with a lot of other samples for the song. Yeah, I do like Chic... mainly because they have awesome basslines that are fun to listen to, move to and especially to play. But what Rapper's Delight is about and what Good Times are about fit pretty well together. Disco, funk and hip hop, kind of similar themes going on. But grunge is not disco, and it's not hip hop.

I was just as displeased when Kanye remixed Harder, Better Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk. Rappers just aren't creative enough to make their own music these days. They'd rather ruin music that was good before they had a career. Next thing you know, god forbid, Kanye will remix "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.

That's just the nature of rappers. Their music sucks, so they must make all music the same. Eminem did a have decent job with his version of "Dream On," but I wouldn't go so far as to call it good.

Though I DO hate that song, i will say, it is mighty good to work out to. Timed well for weight lifting.

I remember when I was the only kid wailing that song from time to time in highschool.  Then Family Guy did a show on it, and suddenly everyone was doing it.

Thank God for those that treasure Journey before the hipsters.  You all make me weep manly tears.

My brother was one of those people who'd belt out into that Journey song. I only ever sung it once, and with modified lyrics. It was at a D&D game and I was playing a pacifistic bard...

She was just a small town fay.
Livin' in a lonely glade
'til she too the midnight wind going anyyyyywhere.

He was just an errant  page.
held up in a keep under seige...

Yeah at one point I had an entire parody of the song remembered. My brother thought it was annoying and stupid, but a whole bunch of his friends seemed to enjoy my version and they'd sing along much to his ire.

EVEN better question: why is he holding a microphone, and when do we get to hear Neil sing?
