I'm really showing my age, when error says old computer games from the nineties! I still remember playing on the Atari 2600 console in the late 70s. And playing space invaders in the Arcade! And the original Pong.

All the "good" role-playing games are just major grind-fests and cash-sinks from what I've seen. I've never touched WoW, but I still laugh when I see related graffiti on bathroom stalls. Who writes "Level 60 Night Elf w/Epics" next to a toilet?

Dig up Windows XP, get yourself a copy of Planescape Torment, google for widescreen/high res mod for that game (or PM me) and launch it. It is masterpiece, trust me. Albeit an obscure one. I would point you to a trailer but haven't seen one that does justice to the game. Apparently, marketing for it really sucked.
While you're getting that game get Fallout 1 & 2. They're both made by the same studio that made Planescape Torment. Black Isle Studios made some sweet games back then.

You've described online RPG's perfectly, I'd rather play single player RPG's. Mass Effect, The Elder Scrolls, Tales of (Vesperia, Symphonia, etc.). They're more story driven, and thus, you enjoy playing the game that much more.

If you are putting Mass Effect as an RPG, be sure to mention Deus Ex (the first one). Don't let the graphics put you off, it might be a wonderful experience.
Yeah, I  know I am an old gamer Smiley

And playing space invaders in the Arcade!

I used to play that on arcades when I was little. I knew the glitch to get infinite lives, so I always saved money.  Cheesy
