What we need is to have a bunch of people who are warriors,  (I guess soldiers, too), and meet up at the Python, and attack it with a -load of darts at the same time. It would be kind of like a real-time battle, but against an NPC.

Has anyone tried making a campfire to prevent attacks between hunting? Wasn't that the whole point of them?

That could work from game mechanics, though it obviously wouldn't be realistic since this thing can go through wildfire. That Ring of Fire idea sounds interesting, I wonder if that would work. Wouldn't be entirely surprised if campfires are coded that way. If they did work that way, then as long as the campfires could be kept up and didn't start a wildfire (no easy task, yes you could trim the forest but you'd have to do that simultaneously with building 8 campfires) the hunting party could gather on a campfire 1 square from the python and strike at their leisure.  Grin

I don't think it would be too hard to find the thing from a single campfire, I guess, but I think you could only wait so long until the Python was completely out of the area.

Also: Would up practically at the Shipwreck, about as close to the hunt as Raktam. I haven't had much trouble with (in the legendary Butcher's words) "stupid, useless wandering pricks" in some time.

You attack the man-eating python with a machete for 3 damage. It drops to 254 HP.
A man-eating python attacks you for 23 damage.

Every time I come running in balls to the wall I get like two hits in and then use a quarter of my herbs before dying. Not sure of the coords, but there's a wildfire that's broken out north of the road to Raktam, north of the mountains. The man-eater's north of the blaze, right near the edge. I managed to escape it's grip and land in fire, so I'm going to see what happens.

I got it down to the 220's but now it has me trapped and i'm pretty sure when I get another AP, I'll find myself dead.

I've spend two days looking for it... how do you all find it so fast??

In my case it usually finds me  Sad. I have been lucky in escaping though. I am very close to you, but I don't have a lot of AP.

I'm thinking that the Python may be less likely to attack if you get it with darts/bullets rather than mele weapons. Even if it isn't, once you get the ammo they do much more damage per attack, and therefore per counter-strike opportunity.

I'm down to 17 herbs and might be nearing my IP limit, but we can try it. My connection's a little slow, so don't go too crazy.

Ibn al Xuffasch has restocked with FAKs and bullets in York and is heading north to help again. Dalpokis, please treat him kindly if you see him.

What we need I think is a major clan to assemble and fight it. Hello, Royal Court! Hello, Rakmagoki Collective!

I mean, how many deaths has the thing inflicted so far? A dozen? More?

Why would the Collective care about a snake?  If we show up we are going to eat the participants.
