Oddly enough, just ran into that one as well. It's roughly 60 clicks west of derby.

Wow, that's quite close-together sightings. BTW, is it confirmed there's only 1 Python at a given time?

And you know, I was in that area before I got this Giant Squid lead, but instead I'm up here combing the waters north of Skull Island for huge distances both sides of where it was spotted... thanks to Cobalt Manticore for the lead anyway, not complaining about that, but annoying. Maybe I just shouldn't go hunting for squid in the far NE.

I might get there in a couple days, though I imagine it may not last that long. I'll at least direct my search patterns southward to get closer to the island.

The python is down to 61 or so.  Northwest of the swamp.

Chief Joe wanders over to the ferocious creature. "Hey Isolation you're looking all beat up, one of those Misfits get yo--" He pauses as a green scaly tentacle coils around his leg. "Ohmigod! Snake! Snake!"

Bring first aid kits and beer for us hunters please and thankyou.

Ooops... I seem to have slipped on the swamp mud and...

You attack Chief Joe with a heavy sword for 1 damage. They die.
You attack Isolation with a heavy sword for 5 damage. You gain 5 XP. They die. You gain 38 XP.
You say “Chief Joe, you have been deemed a traitor to Wiksik, and a severe threat to the peace in Derby. Under the NG/Misfits Protection Alliance you have been summarily executed for your crimes.”
You say “Isolation, you also are a severe threat to the peace in Derby. Therefore, as you were unlucky to have Chief Joe broadcast your position, you have also been summarily executed.”
You attack the python and miss.
A python crushes you for 8 damage.
You attack the python with a heavy sword for 5 damage. You gain 5 XP. It drops to 2 HP.
A python attacks you for 8 damage.
You attack the python with a heavy sword for 5 damage. You gain 5 XP. It dies. You gain 103 XP.
You say “Lastly, Mr Python, you're just dangerous to everyone. Plus I don't like being crushed by snakes, so, off with your head!”

My first Python Kill! Awesome! And thanks to Katie for the tip off.

Yeah congrats. To not only kill your first python, but also your fellow hunters who cut the beast down the size, including the guy who gave its exact gps coords, takes an unprecedented amount of douchebaggery.

Joe, you yourself are a target considering you declared war on both the NG and Derby. You probably shouldn't be broadcasting your position like that just in general in these situations. I can't speak for Anthor, but I would imagine that the snake was killed too was incidental (notice it was killed last after you and Isolation).

Yeah. Well, he would have killed the Python anyway and actually directed effort away from killing it to kill you guys, so he still earned it, but the killing of fellow hunters was a... bit of an odd touch. Seriously, don't discourage people from reporting it's location, we get little enough confirmation that it's even still alive as it is. >_>

Actually, I do have to wonder, why had you remained on the exact same square as the Python? I know it was only about half an hour after that that Anthor killed you, but still, if you posted on the forums that seems like an indication that you were done for the day. Staying on that square overnight- or even for a couple hours- would probably have assured your death anyway if someone hadn't killed it in the meantime.

Anyway... congrats Anthor, but darn it, I had *just* stocked up in Wiksik and was about to set out in search of the Python when I checked the forums. It just feels really weird to suddenly go hunting random animals now- such a change of gear. Anyone know about that Giant Squid sighting? I'd kinda given up on that thing...

UM... wow. The Signpost just happened to run into a Python at [-70.392,+26.278], southern tip of the York peninsula. I'm literally still having trouble believing my eyes, but it definitely says "Also here is a python."

Not 100% sure about whether I should be reporting something another character sees, but I don't think I could stop myself from having AlexanderRM head there so I might as well tell everyone and make it a level playing field...
I guess The Signpost is just informing the Snake Eaters of this b/c he believes in the value of sharing information an felt he should pass this on to those who would use it? That makes quite a bit of sense, in terms of his road-building primary role. He'd always wish everyone would use the UberMap to keep it up-to-date for his use, so in return he's doing his part and giving information on a Python.

Yep, snake was just a bonus. Isolation was collateral damaged, and main target was Chief Joe.

Don't declare war if you get upset when you get killed.

Don't post your position publicly while conducting a war.

You know, it's funny how everyone remembers me declaring war on the NG (even though I didn't), and nobody remembers how for the past week I've been pushing the bonfire party idea, even to the extent of kicking out KOW members who attack Derbians. I'm not conducting any war, Anthor. I don't consider fun to be getting griefed to death by your :palm:ty contest OR by the MISFITS, so I'm doing something else.

The people who find it's inexplicable why I posted the exact gps coords for a python--which I do whenever I find one, or a squid--would also likely be unable to comprehend why I used my last 3 healing herbs (and AP) on Isolation, even though he's not a KOW member and I don't owe him anything. It's a community thing, jackasses. Taking advantage of it to score a cheap shot (I was literally like 12 paces away from Derby) is a dick move however you slice it.

You attack the python with a machete for 3 damage. You gain 3 XP. It drops to 177 HP.

Still at [-70.392,+26.278], or far more likely it moved around and happened to come back to the same spot; quite interesting. I suppose it is pretty confined on 3 sides; this is a great place to not lose the thing and also to not get killed by it.

You fire at the python with a blowpipe for 4 damage. You gain 4 XP. The poison acts quickly, taking another 2HP almost immediately. It dies. You gain 103 XP.

Wow. Did it in 2 days (less than actually, I arrived partway through yesterday) and, more importantly it looks like I brought it down from 200 to 0 entirely solo.
I did have to do XP-AP twice (and wound up with 21 AP left... probably wouldn't have needed the extra thousand XP if I'd broken out my darts a bit sooner; I didn't realize until after I ran out of regular AP, with it at 102 hp, that I could probably almost finish it with just my 30 darts; actually it only took 26).

AWESOME. Finally done with that... which now makes it even harder for me to find stuff to do. I guess I'll just have to wait for Squid sightings from now on and cross the island and wade through deep water until I get one, and in the meantime wander around killing animals in hopes of stumbling across an upgraded one.
