Oh yeah, so, a couple notes for future Wesnoth Mondays: First, there need to be restrictions on what factions can be used (the one CyA had was RIDICULOUSLY overpowered), second, some way needs to be found to make the battle end in a timely manner: I would suggest greatly reducing the amount of starting gold.

well researched and thank you.

Alexander had to leave because of how long the game was going on. I set his side to be a bot. I -just- finished the game.  That was... rather long. Oh, and woot, I won!

I got in and killed the green leader, and his remaining troops were still on the board, so I retreated from that end so that he'd fight black and purple instead of me. Then I managed to get in and take out the purple leader, leaving a mess of leaderless troops on that side, and retreated out of the way so purple would fight black. By this time I'd managed to get a bunch of towns, so I used the money to just spawn a ton and overwhelmed black. Oh, and what was neat was during the daylight part I used my horsemen to just charge in for 2X damage, wiping out some pretty tough guys with relative ease. I lost a few horses from my brazen charge, but it was worth it.

I watched the replay until Alexander quit. AI totally screwed my army and lost all the units, it was a bit painul to watch Smiley It also made the leader walk around and take damage here and there....

The fact that Cybot kept owning left and right just shows how important a race choice can be.
Also, map a bit too small with too much gold. Hard to talk about strategy when all the sides amass so many units it becomes a problem to place them all on your territory.

Good game.

Yeah, I don't hold it against you for choosing a good race.

Oh wow. Thought the plan was to save the game... rather surprised that you managed to beat all three sides in three hours or so. Maybe ARMbot did a bit more to fight Purple and Green than I'd been doing.

Wait... is that what the replay is? I'd assumed that that allowed you to play the level a second time and was wondering what the difference was between that and the regular save. Cool.

Edit: and my save files for this game- I swear I saw some when going in to load Isle of the Damned- seem to have disappeared from my replaying said level. Darn it... it's titled the something cross or whatever, right?

Yeah, rather ironic that the small map actually makes the game move slower. Would make a good map for short games if we had far less gold. I'm thinking something like 200 gold should be fine, though if we wanted (especially on that map) we could go straight to 100 and just do a really short game- better it be too short and over than too long and taking forever. Another thought of mine is that we might have a few more villages as well, so that gold is based more on income than initial supply.

Actually... anyone up for a short, experimental game, say, next Monday? (though I'd prefer Saturday or Sunday, or any Saturday after next weekend). I'm thinking 100 gold, maybe same map, I'd suggest (though this is unrelated to the short-game experiment) no fog of war- shroud is fine with me, though-  as it seems to often make waiting through other people's turns boring- for most of this game I was under the impression that Buttercup was really slow at making decisions.

Question-bump.
Is it every Monday or just sometimes? Maybe somebody would be for an occasional game during weekends? I won't be a regular one but I might drop in from time to time.

I usually run them every Monday.  Sadly it's exam season so Wesnoth Mondayness might be a little interrupted at the moment.

Sorry about that!

If you have the correct version of the game and a working Internet connection, you should be able to. A reinstall never hurts either.

Well I downloaded it straight from the website. It ought to be the latest version.
I could try reinstalling though. If that doesn't work, I'm at a loss.

Might be your firewall. Or maybe all is OK and you just didn't click in the right place to find the server.
