Wait, which so-called "king" of wiksik was this?
And also, what are we referring to that the royal court is staying neutral with regards to? Is this the Midway Island conflict, or the conflict over the throne of Wiksik?
Anyway, I'd like to know what the stances of the RCGR and KoW are on the question of Midway/WickSick island. I was thinking the KoW might also exert a claim over the island, but it could easily be not. I imagine that neither is declaring was on the Peninsular Federation, but I'm thinking of the more subtle support/approval/disapproval/conflicting claims/whatever here.
BTW, if I recall correctly this sort of thing was the reason I tried to found a Midway Empire all those months ago. Come to think of it, it might be reasonable for the various Native powers to support a small, Native-influenced independent state on the island... though probably not with me in charge.
The Royal Court of Greater Raktam stayed neutral during the Wiksik War and I don't believe there has ever been a solid stance one way or another over Wicksick Island. The island falls under Kingdom of Skulls territory, according to old maps, therefore it is the sole responsibility of the warriors of the Kingdom of Skulls and any natives within the territory who wish to defend their sacred land. I respect the Royal Court's neutrality towards the Kingdom of Skulls. It would be hard for me to expect their aid when I myself remained neutral as my own Rakmogaki brothers attacked their village. Since the end of the war, I very rarely step foot into Wiksik. I believe I'm still outlawed there, if not I would no doubt be hunted down on account of my exiled blood. I will continue to fight to defend the Kingdom of Skulls territory, and I welcome any who will join me. I no longer have any quarrel with Wiksik, although I will continue to kill outsiders within the territory on sight, save for those who keep to themselves within the Spirit Hut. I will never surrender Wicksick Island. I've got an entire territory to prowl, but I will police it on occasion. I too would like to see a pro-native presence lay an active claim to it, but it is certainly not going to be me, at least not yet. I have trouble sitting still for very long and the tower eventually runs out of meat. Nadai has to make a return trip, someone got to him as he rested in the tower. So, if anyone else can get there to help defend, it would be appreciated.

You attack Aiden Dakari and miss. Unlucky or just clumsy? The blade snaps off and you're left holding the handle, which you discard. You whisper to Aiden Dakari, “Fffffffffffffffffff-!” Solemn fuggin' books it. "His bum, it is of the steel and diamond! Beware, he craps thunder and pisses lightning!"

The king I referred to was Anthor. The Royal Court mentioned is RCGR, and officially, no stance has been taken.
No, I meant, what is it not taking a stance on? Midway/WickSick island? Anyway, I would be quite sad to hear of a falling-out between the RCGR and the KoW. The same would rather go for the KoS, I suppose. I would accept a lack of alliance between Native groups, but at least we should avoid warring each other when violent Outsiders threaten the Natives. The Royal Court of Greater Raktam stayed neutral during the Wiksik War and I don't believe there has ever been a solid stance one way or another over Wicksick Island.
Yeah. I do recall years ago Black Fang saying something about how, if an island were to emerge of the coast of Raktam, he would recognize a Raktamite claim to it, which made it sound like Raktam was claiming the island, but I don't recall the post he was actually responding to and the Raktam map didn't claim it, and it was such a long time ago, so basically... however, I would expect that there have been times that the RCGR has supported a Wiksik claim against a Yorkish one. The island falls under Kingdom of Skulls territory, according to old maps, therefore it is the sole responsibility of the warriors of the Kingdom of Skulls and any natives within the territory who wish to defend their sacred land.
Well, I was thinking that the KoW might claim it as Wiksik territory (after all, a major point behind the KoS claim of it was the simple geography of it being offshore of their mainland territory), but in any case let us not squabble over which native group possesses the sacred island when Outsiders are actively attempting to lay claim to it. Edit: perhaps rather than a centralized state, Midway could be a "federation" consisting of all Natives willing to defend the sacred land. I guess that for the moment it would have no government apart from the exclusion of Outsider claims. Of course, the moment Outsiders cease to actively attempt to claim it, assuming the island isn't then taken by some larger Native kingdom (after the Federation warriors have done all the actual work of driving the Outsiders off... I'm thinking perhaps not?) the federation will probably have to condense into a small monarchy or perhaps even a Republic, and might do so during the war if it drags on too long and becomes too fuzy.

Wicksick Island falls under the protection of the Kingdom of Skulls territory, but I would have no problem with any pro-native interest looking to occupy it. In my eyes, it's really just a matter of geography, a historical point of interest for us to hold onto. The Peninsula Federation has their island to the south of Derby, so I consider this encroachment the first act of war.
Also, in case anyone hadn't noticed, there's a new path linking Wiksik to Wicksick Island. Head southeast from the shaman to catch it, it runs southeast and then south. I've got a few road projects planned, but gathering driftwood is a pain and cuts into my hunting time, so it may take a while to complete the entire network.
I was hunting a Kraken but now I've lost it for a few days. I'll be heading over shortly.

The Kingdom of Wiksik lays no claim to Wicksick Island. I support Bobby's claim to it.

Bobby the Hatchet railed against the gods screaming "Wicksick Island falls under the protection of the Kingdom of Skulls territory"
Wicksick Island belongs to the Wicksick...
Midway Island belongs to all who choose to visit, with the warning that you never know which Island it is from day to day, hour to hour. If a Wicksick spirit has arrived, you may receive a welcome different from what you were expecting.

Et tu Anthor? I thought we were bff In any case, first blood has been struck, enjoy the long trek back to the Midway. We have called in our allies, friends, rogue pirates, hessians and mercenaries. We will grind the KOS down by attrition. You will kill two of us for each of your deaths, and you will make the long walk back from Wiksik and Raktam to spend days floating in deep water doing nothing but wasting AP hoping not to get bitten by a shark, since you just used your last herb. I have fought for Midway several times before ... prepare ... for ... tedium.

As for you filthy Derbians, I, Nadai Irkad shall greet you with blade and teeth bared.

Great. Who wants to take bets on what calamity destroys the Tower on WickSick Island? I said "tedium" not "acrimony". I always push for a gentleman's war, and Bobby seems like a gentleman (in spite of the animal skins and human scalps hanging from his deerskin belt) so this war should be very civilized. It is just that Midway is, well, a boring place to fight. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful piece of real estate, but fighting there is a real drag.

Ah, I see where you are going. No, the attrition is simply a scientific fact given the logistics of the thing, and the tedium is a probable perception that everyone will have, given that fighting for Midway isn't exciting (and potentially acrimonious!) like, say, fighting for a settlement.

I will fight a gentleman's war, but I refuse to use napkins and eating utensils when feasting. As for logistics, imagine if the front lines of the American Civil War were fought in Madagascar.

You attack The Evil Emperor Zurg with a knife for 2 damage. They die. You gain 38 XP. Underworld log successful. You carve pieces off The Evil Emperor Zurg and give thanks to the ancestors as you eat. You feel very invigorated from the slabs of flesh you consume. You gain 3 XP. The fact that I was not invited keeps me up at night. I have spent many of these sleepless nights crying softly in the moonlight, imagining your face. (And your money. Mostly your money. Your face was really just a one time thing, but it did make me question a lot of things I had previously thought I knew. Also, did you always have that mustache, or am I just adding it in to my imaginings? Because it's awesome.) That being said, I am calling that the tower be destroyed by a Sharktopus.
