So how did you celebrate Independence Day? I myself went out, saw some fireworks as I walked the length of about 3 suburban cities. Sometime later, I stopped by a party with some friends, had some drinks, got in a fight with the bartender, and was abruptly thrown out, where I ended my night with a smoke and a walk home. Anyone else care to share?

I celebrated about a week early as my city is cheap and held the fireworks on June 27th.
Starting at 4pm, we went to a party on the water with way too many unattended children... then we came back to my house where we had secured extra parking very early that morning and had a lovely, impromptu party. We stuffed the the wood-fired oven with natural fuel and walked across the street to the park and watched the fireworks. We drank Svedka and I got some sexy kisses and groping from my bff in the dark. Then, we all hung out eating awesome pizzas until midnight when the streets were moving again. The next day I woke up at 7 am and went to teach my last class before school ended.
Yay, Independence DAY.

I realised it was Independence Day when an American friend made reference to it on Facebook. I told him to stop with the attitude or they'll never let the former colonies back into the Empire.
(Australia Day is 25 January. We watch fireworks, drink beer, and generally be obnoxiously Australian. Its usually a hot day so there's a lot of people celebrating at the beach. Too many Southern Cross tattoos on display on Australia Day. Really gauche. )

For the 4th of July, I studied my butt off for a test I have Saturday, factored lots of polynomials and found the measure of lots of angles. Then I went swimming with my cousins and boyfriend at my parents house because it was way to freaking hot. My puppy, the english mastif, finally swam around! Took two summers, but she's loving the water now! Then went to a bbq at my uncles and had lots of yummy food. It's my stepdad's brother, and that family is Japanese, and the mixture of Japanese and American bbq is the best on earth!! Had brownies for dessert, and then lit fireworks on the street with my uncle's neighbors. A very traditional and fun end to Independence day!
Oh and I made red white and blue dip for chips. Yum!

Oh come now Swarm. How can you allow yourself to have a boring holiday? I consider even the least significant, and even the most pointless holidays a cause for drinks

I went up to the northern reaches of the Continental United States and launched Fireworks within sight of the Canadian border, just to taunt them. Afterwards, went back to the house I was staying at, shot some more fireworks (because you can never blow enough stuff up in the name of your country), played cards with some old people (lost miserably), and ended the night by beating the Elite Four in "Pokemon: Heart Gold."
Edit: forgot to mention! I started off the day by attending a friggin' RODEO!

Spent the day hammered at the park. I think I almost blew my leg up with a bottle of fireworks. Go Amerrricuh.
Oh, hope you'll excuse my recent post flood everyone, it's just another way of saying how much I prefer this forum over others.

I find taunting Canada with fireworks very humorous! Although I have no negativity towards my neighbors to the north. I've been to Windsor a few times

Canada is great their cities have more hookers per square mile than any other place in the world. The only downside is BYOB&C the sin tax is obscene there, I understand it's for socialized medicine but if I had to choose give me smokes and booze any day over government run health care. That's not a dig at Canadians I just hate taxes and governments overstepping their bounds into our lives. Obama raised our taxes on tobacco from $2 a pound to $24 a pound I've been a little on edge sense then. In all fairness though I've been pissed sense they got rid of luckies in 06. Go America, Canada is alright but alcohol and tobacco laws just :palm:ing suck no matter where you go.
