What is the Society of New Haven?

The first sighting of the flamboyant New Haven crest was a gathering of likeminded fellows, talking of ideas and ideals whilst they worked hand in hand cleaning the ruins of Creedy of debris and weeds.  Next, it was seen upon a few laughing Durhamites and pirates at Palermo, sharing drinks and telling tales before the whiffs of smoke from an impending inferno perked the attention of one New Havener wearing a tophat.  Snatching up machete, water, and quite possibly skipping out on his bill, that ranting fellow hooped and hollered a rousing call, "New Haven!  Our Haven!  A Haven for all!"  In teeming numbers they swarmed, seemingly from nowhere.  There hadn't been such a large initiative of outsiders in months, and now a dozen or more were out hacking jungle and fighting fires to save the jungles and plains of Durham.  Within scant days, the blazing wild-fire spanning the width of the peninsula was stifled into cinders.

Since then, well over a score wander the peninsula, sharing good will and living their lives, be they farmers, mercenaries, pirates or natives.  Roads and orchards have cropped up, business has been drawn in, and the arms of New Haven are still outstretched, welcoming all into its ranks that would work to make the Society proud.

Creedy's Ruins enjoy a new burst of life under the title "New Haven", and the ruins around them are now being further cultivated as well.  At the end of the island, the outsider cause and image is being reborn and revitalized into something worth standing behind and standing up for.  The Peninsula's integrity and the welfare of its citizens are its priority.  The absence of drama and twattery are its ideals.

Having fun is their business.

Somewhere in the jungle, The Prisoner raises a bottle of poison berry wine and ashes a bent cigarette into the skull of some poor sod, muttering under his breath as he scratches himself.

Aye, To drama and twattery...or lack thereof, rather...

The Society of New Haven will pay 20 GC for the exact coordinates of New Berlin.

See Solemn for the reward.  First come, first serve.

Once you show up in New Haven, you'll get your cash.  Thankya' kindly!

Also, all of New Haven's members are encouraged to count their extremities upon waking each morning for the next month or so.  As a precaution, of course.

We shan't be dinner-plates.

Solemn happens upon the leader of the Bloodstock, Vetari the Vicious, while strolling along with his close compatriot, Noahsan.

Quote
Solemn 's gaze perks up as he spots the cannibal, glowering while he marches over and prods the flesh-eater in the chest. "You there!"
Solemn thumbs his finger home a few more times amidst a snarl. "What right do YOU have to come over here and try and prey upon our industrious initiative?!"
Solemn looks to Noah, nodding while he gestures with his ancient sword. "To arms! New Haven! Our Haven! A Haven for all!"
You say “Now let's whup some !”
Noahsan nods
Noahsan kills Vetari the Vicious with a rifle butt.
Noahsan hits the flithy cannibal with the butt of his gun. Noahsan laughs as he walks away.
Solemn slaps Noah bodily across the back, beaming wide. "Fine work, m'friend."
Solemn slips a bottle of fine tasty berry wine into the fellow's satchel in thanks.
Solemn shakes his head as he eyes the corpse, sighing and shouldering his weapon. "Heed this lesson: We are a beacon of hope. Not a Value Meal Menu. New Haven shall survive this."
Fashioning a rough sign out of a couple of pieces of driftwood, you stick it into the ground and carve Here lies the first victim of the New Haven/Bloodstock conflict: Vetari the Vicious himself. onto it.
Solemn wanders back off to his planting. "Have a nice walk back, cannibal. We'll have the silverware set out for you." He smacks the blade of his sword. "Oh will we ever!"

Just a reminder that Arbierfest is still going. We're headed to the swamps, for those of you who aren't sure. By the twin lakes.

Arbierfest has come and gone, and New Haven is setting down its highways and byways.  But all work and no play makes Shartak a dull island.

I give you the Iron Bar!  While not a profit-driven business such as Club Palermo, why not at least be honest and have ourselves already wheeling and dealing politics in the middle of a jail?

Club Palermo is welcome to come and host a vendor with us, and anyone is welcome to visit while they rest from a day's hard work.

And for anyone unable to join us in the flesh, come offer up your banter in spirit at our bulletin!  For writing, roleplay, and everything in between:  http://shartaknewhaven.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rp

After a quick tussle with proboards settings, Solemn has allowed the viewing of the New Haven Jail and "Iron Bar" sections to the public, with the posting-power for any and all New Haveners!

Figured I'd head back into town and see how the locals are doing.

Quote
The Prisoner takes a drag off a cigarette and squints one eye as he levels his rifle with your mid-section. "Don't shoot the bartender, he's got some shady regulars."
You give a poisonous snake to Russell The Vicious .
Vercingetorix attacks you with a machete for 3 damage.
You fire at Russell The Vicious with a rifle for 5 damage. They die.
Underworld log successful .
You step inside.
You climb outside.
You climb inside.
Algy Templeton glances about the room. "Test shots. And I'm happy to say she works beautifully."
You say “Vercingetorix just attacked me.”
You say “I gave him the slip, but he was last at the hut just east of here.”
You say “I was getting the death blow on Russell the Vicious.”
Algy Templeton nods at the Prisoner as he comes in. "Hey there, old sport. How've you been?"
You say “I don't have the energy to kill him, but I'm about to track his down after I finish this cigarette.”
Algy Templeton says “Ah, Russell. Bit of a daft fella.”
The Prisoner takes a drag off his cigarette. "Hey there Algy. Fancy a hunt after a few beers?"
Algy Templeton gets a beer ready. "Want a drink before you set off?"
Algy Templeton says “We, then. Sounds fair to me.”
Algy Templeton gives you a bottle of beer.
You say “Just a second, I'm waiting for him to go to sleep. Give it a few.”
Algy Templeton pours two beers, handing one to The Prisoner and drinking the other himself. "Cheers, mate."
Algy Templeton grins. "Righto. I suppose I'm rather eager to try my gun on a proper target.
You say “He only got one hit in on me, so I imagine he'll be ready to rumble.”
Algy Templeton collects a belt full of cartridges, a pair of machetes, and a long dagger. "Just say the word, sah, and I'll be right with you."
Algy Templeton then picks up his rifle, double-checking the internals.
Algy Templeton shoulders his rifle. "Back soon lady and gents."
You climb outside.
You step inside.
The Prisoner takes a drag off a cigarette. "You didn't honestly think I'd let that little love tap slide, did ye?"
Algy Templeton nods at Vercingetorix. "Nothing personal, sah, just helping a friend."
You say “Algy, get the savage a nice, stiff drink.”
Algy Templeton raises his M1 and opens fire.
You attack Vercingetorix with a heavy sword for 5 damage. They die. You gain 43 XP.
Underworld log successful .
Algy Templeton lowers his rifle. "I hope that was stiff enough for you, sah." He faintly grins, then shakes his head. "What a terrible joke."
Algy Templeton nods at The Prisoner. "Job well done, eh?" He steps out the door. "See you back in the club for another round."
The Prisoner finishes his smoke and flicks the butt onto the king's corpse. "Don't come back now, y'hear? We don't take kindly to royalty."
The Prisoner takes a pull from his bottle and sheaths his heavy sword. "If you still want death, you know where to find me." He strolls out into the streets whistling an old sea shanty.
