A parrot makes a sound remarkably similar to a human cough. (2010-03-01 06:05) A parrot squawks "What's read and green and jumps out of aeroplanes? A parrot-trooper!" (2010-03-01 12:05) Twist has been training parrots?

He's a better parrot-trainer than he is speller, apparently.

*giggles*
Does anyone have a rough idea of how this training parrots to speak thing works? I have been trying a lot with all of my characters (One, Stonerkitten, did spend almost two weeks chasing parrots and talking to them), but I have yet to hear any repeat anything I have said.

A long time ago it was said that you had to repeat the words you wanted a parrot to parrot ... about twenty times.
I have no idea if anyone ever tested that hypothesis.

well, if animals will not enter a square with fire, one could hypothetically pen one in and talk to if for as long as you want.

twenty times.
Some say it was sixty, some said it takes only one. Only the Creator knows really

Thanks! I am pretty sure one isn't enough, but I can experiment with greater numbers. The next parrot I meet better be prepared to have it's tiny bird brain spammed out of its ears

The more you repeat a phrase to a parrot, the more chance it will have of recalling the phrase.

Does Simon forget things that he has added in? It has been a long time. Maybe we will never know I would say that since it is usually around 20-60, maybe the percentage chance of it happening is .5% or something?

Simon can't be expected to remember every single little thing about Shartak. Plus I hear developers forgetting things they have coded is a common occurance.
I vaguely remember hearing that about 20AP is a good amount to spend in order to ensure there's a good chance a parrot will repeat something.

20 speaking actions or 20 AP?
Doesn't speaking take up .1 AP?

5 times will do it. This is proven, in the OP.
EDIT FOR SWARM'S BENEFIT: 'OP' means 'Original Post/Poster'
No charge.

What is the "OP"? Good thing it's 5 times, you wouldn't want to struggle to have to do something.
