How thoroughly explored are the jungles of Ragmogak? Has someone cleared them all at one point or another in search of abandoned huts or ancient ruins?
Just curious before I leave for the mainland. Thanks.

There is a tunnel entrance in the far north-east which is usually occupied by fungi farmers. No ruins otherwise.
You have three options to get to the mainland:
a. swim. Beware of sharks so take lots of healing herbs; b. go via tunnel, but be at risk of murder because there is nowhere to hide in the tunnels; c. die and catch a lift with a roaming shaman. There is almost always a roaming shaman in the big swamp south of Skull Island so its easy to navigate from there.

Warning: Most of it is density 10 where the skull's "hair" should be. There are no ruins or special things except caves, unless if simon added something just now.

I suggest that you spend some time in the caves harvesting fungi and making fungi potions before you come down, Bobby. The cannibals have the easist access to proven fungi patches and the ability to boost their girth. Those two benefits will help get around the "Local Hero" types who will kill the living Hell out of you as you travel around the main island.

Not much to see really, like everyone said. I haven't been back there since I left. Those ... "Local Hero" types who will kill the living Hell out of you...

Thanks for all the info. I'll probably spend some time harvesting and hunting before I head out then. I'm guessing the mainland is full of veteran trenchcoaters. Not sure how aggressive I plan on being yet, but I'll figure it out as I get a feel for the "Local Hero" types.

Oh, not much trenchcoats around here. Given the humidity. We do have many adventurer-class conquistadores and such.
Mmmm, are you a new cannibal? I recommend that you find yourself a dagger/knife, a machete and 4-5 clubs, as clubs tend to break easily. Then, go prey on some animals til you can get your hands on trekking, exploration, headhunting and feasting. The Outsider Heroes tend to carry guns and will shoot back faster than you can blink, so those are the must haves.
Also, welcome to Shartak. Feel free to ask questions when you have any. Most people don't bite around here. But those who do bite, well, they'll just bite you.

Headhunting? How does that help... Anyway, I dislike such sets of skills much. Nothing is a must on Shartak. It all depends on what you want to do, what kind of character you want to play. Use your imagination. Some skills will enable to get more xp, some won't. As long as you don't get stuck without any xp income, you will be fine. Exploration and combat do come in handy but it all depends on how you want to play. Also, there are other ways of getting xp, not necessary hunting. Although this is an easy way to level up.

Thanks again. I'm new to Shartak, but I've played similar games and have the basic low-level grind down.
I'll hack animals for now. Unless my math was off, I figure ultimately every player gets every general skill + class skills in the end, so as long as I don't miss any crucial ones early on, I'll let my experience with the locals dictate the rest.
Quick question: Do the effects of amulets stack beyond the first of each type? I figure no.

Not necessary. Some classes have specific skills higher on the tree, some lower. But if you picked a certain class, you probably want to have the advantage it gives earlier in the game. Anyway, by the level 3 or 4 you will have a normal xp income, by level 10 you will have all the necessary skills and probably won't feel restricted by them so much. Keep in mind that visiting other trade posts grants you 100 xp per visit. That is enormous amount of xp during the lower levels. Also, if you have a lot of herbs and a bleeding wound, you can go around doing your usual business and heal it after 40-50 ap. You will get a bunch of xp that way. It's not mandatory to only beat monkeys with your club for 2 weeks... Skills are fun but roleplaying is better. Don't get too sucked up in the xp hunt, you might miss interesting things. The most effective ap spending is not necessary the most rewarding thing here. Quick question: Do the effects of amulets stack beyond the first of each type? I figure no.
I think nobody knows for sure. Anyway, Ahnaom is not a cannibal. He is starting to dislike them Your brethren are not the most welcomed bunch on the island for obvious reasons. Keep that in mind while wandering around. What's a trenchcoater? I never understood it Trenchcoater is a term from Urban Dead. It is used to ridicule people who shoot first, think later and are generally acting like "badasses". Not sure how that aplies to Shartak

Grunk the Pale here, the young charismatic leader of the Rakmogaki Collective. As a new cannibal, you really should whack on some animals first, and level up those standard kills. If you plan on exclusively using wooden clubs, stay away from the glancing blow skill until past level 10. The skill only works for weapons that have a blade. Feel free to join the collective anytime you wish. There really is no requirement to be in the clan other than being a cannibal. You can ignore my clan news if you wish, as long as you promise to help clan members in need if you see some that are in need. Enjoy your stay on Skull Island.

In that case, I don't think I'm a trenchcoater. I always IFF, even if it's with a punch Thanks for clearing that up for me. Always a shame to see the Raggedy Collective getting new members, the Privateers need bodies more Damn your dichotomy of good and evil, Neil
