Obviously, I like my own idea,
Shouts and Whistles. But I didn't want to appear arrogant by writing simply that.

(I also have a
second suggestion on the wiki (that I obviously also support) which has as yet no feedback, and I have yet to submit to "peer review" here on the forum. Therefore it doesn't qualify under Simon's criteria.)
I read through all the suggestions other folks have put up here, and a bunch more besides. Many are interesting, but have flaws of different kinds (often balance concerns), in my mind.
I like the general idea of taking meat from all those animals that we hunt, and it seems a natural one for the setting and progression of the game. There are many suggestions on how to do that, and there doesn't seem to be consensus around one thread. One that I do quite like, even better than
Johan's Butchery (which is good, and also simple), is Skull Face's suggestion for recovering meat from animal corpses, and generating trinkets useful for character differentiation, here:
http://wiki.shartak.com/index.php/Suggestions:Game_mechanics#Animal_CorpsesHowever, that one seems to need a bit more fleshing out (no pun intended!), and consideration for effects on game balance. (Can we add clothing slots for characters, and customize clothing from our trophies? Can we expand the skills necessary to gain the greatest benefit from the meat? Are the HP values and meat quantities reasonable?) So perhaps it is not "well thought-out" yet.
Also, I don't think that suggestion has been submitted for peer review on the forum yet; so, again, given the restrictions by Simon, this one also doesn't yet qualify. [C'mon, Skull, put it on the forum and let's refine it!]
So I guess I've got nothing really good to suggest, yet.
