As agriculture has now been implemented, we're in need of maybe two or three new features to be added to the list.

Nominations must:
 (a) most importantly, be sensible
 (b) generally be thought a good idea by people replying to the thread
 (c) either be well documented here or on the wiki

To nominate a suggestion, simply post a link to the relevant thread (or wiki page) as a response to this thread. This thread may be cleaned up (removal of chatter, consolidation of identical nominations, etc) if it gets out of hand.

The Ghost Ship

My favourite of all the community ideas and one that will have a positive impact for pirates especially. Will also be good for anyone who wants to see more water-based action and a new major NPC to hunt.

Obviously, I like my own idea, Shouts and Whistles.  But I didn't want to appear arrogant by writing simply that.   Tongue   (I also have a second suggestion on the wiki (that I obviously also support) which has as yet no feedback, and I have yet to submit to "peer review" here on the forum.  Therefore it doesn't qualify under Simon's criteria.)

I read through all the suggestions other folks have put up here, and a bunch more besides.  Many are interesting, but have flaws of different kinds (often balance concerns), in my mind.

I like the general idea of taking meat from all those animals that we hunt, and it seems a natural one for the setting and progression of the game.  There are many suggestions on how to do that, and there doesn't seem to be consensus around one thread.  One that I do quite like, even better than Johan's Butchery (which is good, and also simple), is Skull Face's suggestion for recovering meat from animal corpses, and generating trinkets useful for character differentiation, here:
  http://wiki.shartak.com/index.php/Suggestions:Game_mechanics#Animal_Corpses
However, that one seems to need a bit more fleshing out (no pun intended!), and consideration for effects on game balance.  (Can we add clothing slots for characters, and customize clothing from our trophies?  Can we expand the skills necessary to gain the greatest benefit from the meat?  Are the HP values and meat quantities reasonable?)  So perhaps it is not "well thought-out" yet.
Also, I don't think that suggestion has been submitted for peer review on the forum yet; so, again, given the restrictions by Simon, this one also doesn't yet qualify.  [C'mon, Skull, put it on the forum and let's refine it!]

So I guess I've got nothing really good to suggest, yet.  Embarrassed

I vote for people not voting for their own suggestions. Not cool.

Since he's just, in his own inimitable, somewhat inimical way, debarred himself from doing it himself, can I nominate both of Twist's suggestions? They both seem (to me) to be the kind of thing that would improve the game, not only for veteran players who want very specific things from it, but generally, and for people who might otherwise be put off by its current, very slightly nebulous nature.

They are:

Spirit Quests

and

Treasure Maps and Buried Treasure

Inimical? I like it. It sounds much better than 'arsehole.'

Axe
http://forum.shartak.com/index.php/topic,2574.0.html

I know it hasn't been fully developed, but we need a way to cut down regular vegetation to harvest deadwood and ESPECIALLY a way to cut down trees that people grew.  Too many trees!
