Which country you're from:

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture?

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture?

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?

Which country you're from: England

1. How is a man supposed to greet other men in your culture?
Handshake if it's slightly more formal. If it's friends after not seeing each other for a while then maybe a hug.

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture?
Probably a kiss on the cheek or just a hug.

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture?
Handshake or kiss on the cheek. Or two. Not sure, it're more of a continental thing really.

4. What sort of touching between men in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Hugs are perfectly acceptable. People probably wouldn't mind two nananana men having a quick kiss, depends what sort of situation. Obviously more formal occaissions then less would be acceptable.

5. What sort of touching between men in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Anything further than a kiss is probably unacceptable in any situation.

6. What sort of touching between women in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Similar to the men's section really. Except more relaxed for women, kissing and hugging are commonplace as log as it's not too formal.

7. What sort of touching between women in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Again, more formal occaisions then less is acceptable. Any further then kissing would probably be unacceptable anywhere.

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?
Similar again. Kissing and hugging fine in more relaxed informal situations.

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?
Again pretty similar, no full sex but hugging and kissing is fine as long as it's fairly informal.

10. What do you personally feel about touching?
I've got no problem with it. It's good to hug a close firend after you haven't seen them in a while and/or when drunk. Helps cement a friendship. And obviously I have no problem with romatic touching, though I accept some don't want to see it in public.

Got a friend to do it aswell, from England of course.

1) Shaking hands
2) Kiss on the cheek
3) Kiss on the cheek
4) Kissing, assuming they're in a relationship
5) Anything more intimate than kissing, under pretty much all conditions
6) Kissing, assuming they're in a relationship
7) Anything more intimate than kissing, under pretty much all conditions
cool Kissing, assuming they're in a relationship
9) Anything more intimate than kissing, under pretty much all conditions
10) Touching is a normal, culturally acceptable action, as long as the touching does not exceed kissing in public. Our culture is now tolerant enough to accept kissing between members of the sex.

Which country you're from: United States

1. How is a man supposed to greet other men in your culture?
There are multiple fashions, the most formal being a handshake, and from there a polite wave, hello, or friendly hug.

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture?
Depends on the circumstances, however generally it is a hug or a hello.

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture?
A hug, or a friendly hello, or a kiss (depending on the relationship status)

4. What sort of touching between men in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Handshakes, highfives, friendly hugs, etc.

5. What sort of touching between men in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Groping and fondling, naturally. Depends on where you are though, because in some areas of the country you would be shot for holding hands with another man and in others its perfectly normal.

6. What sort of touching between women in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Hugs, holding hands, etc.

7. What sort of touching between women in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?
Groping and fondling (although I am sure some men in our country would pay good money to see it).

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?
Holding hands, hugging, kissing, etc.

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?
Sex (obviously), public displays of serious affection (i.e. making out in front of some old women), etc.

10. What do you personally feel about touching?
I'm a prude, so generally I try to refrain from touching people, although that doesn't mean I won't do it. However, if I am with a girl chances are I won't actually kiss her in public, I have a mental block about that.

Which country you're from: US

1. How is a man supposed to greet other men in your culture? formally, a handshake and greeting; informally, a wave and greeting

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture? formally, a handshake and greeting; informally, a wave or a hug and greeting

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture? formally, a handshake and greeting; informally, a wave or a hug and a greeting

4. What sort of touching between men in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions? A handshake in any condition, a high five or fist pump in less formal conditions, a hug with very good friends or family

5. What sort of touching between men in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions? Any lasting touching, like holding hands or arms around shoulders, are viewed as atypical, but not a big deal.  Kissing is okay in some parts of the country, but in others can lead to problems with bystanders.  All touching more intimate than kissing is not allowed though.

6. What sort of touching between women in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions? hugging, kissing on cheeks, holding hands, all that stuff is okay, in informal settings (you know the person pretty well)

7. What sort of touching between women in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions? kisses on the lips between friends or lovers is atypical, but not a big deal.  Intimate touching is not allowed for anyone.

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?  if they are a couple, personal displays of affections are found annoying my many (not me!) but are deemed tolerable.  This includes kisses on the lips, face, and hands, and hand holding.  If the two are just friends or relatives, then hugging is permissible, as well as touching shoulders, arms, and hands.

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?  Any intimate touching is not allowed, no mater the relationship of the two.  if the two are not a couple, it is inappropriate for them to hold hands or kiss cheeks or lips.

10. What do you personally feel about touching? I personally don't like people touching me in most cases, but i will shake hands in formal situations because of custom.  Romantic touching in private is fine, and in public i hold hands with my boyfriend and give him quick kisses and we hug, but I don't typically hug friends when I see them unless they initiate it.  For other people, I don't really mind what they do in public, men or women, short of sexual touching.  I'd like to see more men kissing and holding hands in public!  Wink

Which country you're from: Sweden

1. How is a man supposed to greet other men in your culture?

Shaking hands, a simple wave or hello, hug if they're close friends. Depends on the situation and location.

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture?

In the same way as men. Women that are drunk might kiss each other.

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture?

Shaking hands, a hug or a kiss. Depends on the situation and how well they know each other.

4. What sort of touching between men in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

All touching that is'nt sexual. Hugs and kisses are okay between homosexual couples in public, just as it is between heterosexual couples. Not too much if it's in formal ocassions.

5. What sort of touching between men in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

No sexual touching! No hands down in the pants, so to speak.

6. What sort of touching between women in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

Same as for men!

7. What sort of touching between women in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

Same as for men!

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?

Hugs and kisses are okay between couples and friends, as long as it's not too sexual.

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?

When it gets too sexual (hands in pants, tit squeeze etc.)

10. What do you personally feel about touching?

Shaking hands with men on formal ocassions is okay. Hugs and kisses with known women are okay. Light hugs with close male friends can be okay if I'm drunk. Other than that it's the one meter rule that applies. Touch me and you'll get punched! Get too close, you better be prepared to be pushed away. That said, I don't mind how other people touch each other in public as long as it's not in a sexual fashion.

Which country you're from: Australia

1. How is a man supposed to greet other men in your culture? formally, a handshake and greeting; informally, a wave and greeting

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture? formally, a handshake and greeting; informally, a single kiss on the cheek

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture? formally, a handshake and greeting; informally, a single kiss on the cheek

4. What sort of touching between men in public is permissible in your culture? very little beyond hand shaking and possible slap on the back or shoulder

Under what conditions? Outside of handshaking, only between good friends

5. What sort of touching between men in public is not permissible in your culture? Gay men kiss each other on the cheek, it seems usually twice on both cheeks. Otherwise, between straight men any intimacy in touching is not acceptable.
Under what conditions? not sure what this means, but think I answered it already.

6. What sort of touching between women in public is permissible in your culture? hugs, "lounging" and leaning on each other, kissing on cheeks. Gay women do the same but more often.
Under what conditions? Informal meetings or gatherings.

7. What sort of touching between women in public is not permissible in your culture? Sexual intimacy. Hand holding between two straight females would be odd.
Under what conditions?

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions? hugs, "lounging" and leaning on each other, kissing on the lips, other public displays of affection.

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions? Sexual intimacy, although touching breasts and buttocks in very informal settings would be regarded as amusing.

10. What do you personally feel about touching? Strictly reserved for people I know well, other than handshakes.

10. What do you personally feel about touching?

I don't mind what other people do, but I don't like touching or being touched by anyone I do not deeply care for. I reserve handshakes mostly for important business contacts and only about three companions have ever gotten more from me, though it is considerably more (yay PDA, I'm not a prude). Perhaps there is reason to be seen as callous, but that simply means my passions are focused in the outlets I choose and not allowed to become meaningless via entrophy.

I live in the U.S.A. Maryland, more specifically.

1. How is a man supposed to greet other men in your culture?

Handshake.

2. How is a woman supposed to greet other women in your culture?

I'm not a woman, and I don't know.

3. How is a man supposed to greet a woman in your culture?

Usually, by asking her "how are you feeling?", or "how was your day?"

4. What sort of touching between men in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

I think, from a legal standpoint, as long as men aren't buggering in the streets, than there won't be any problems. As far as what's acceptable apart from the law, men shouldn't do anything more intimate than hug for a few seconds at most.

5. What sort of touching between men in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

Legally: having sex in public view. Socially: groping, kissing, and anything considered "nananana".

6. What sort of touching between women in public is permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

Hand-holding, hugging, kissing. (women seem not to have the homo insecurity that men have, I've noted).

7. What sort of touching between women in public is not permissible in your culture?
Under what conditions?

Anything obviously sexual like handjobs or cunnulingus.

8. What sort of touching between men and women in public is permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?

If they're dating and comfortable with one another, than anything that falls short of sex. If they are nothing more than acquaintances or friends, than it's best not to do any touching at all.

9. What sort of touching between men and women in public is not permissible in your culture? Under what conditions?

Sexual things like blowjobs or intercourse.

10. What do you personally feel about touching?

I'd rather people keep a distance of four feet between them and me, and not touch me at all. I'm easily creeped out.
