LOLZ, reminds me of the "our dumb world" atlas from the same source... I forget which country it was that knew that the future consisted of (essentially post-apocalyptic stuff), and had embraced that future, it was somewhere in east Africa.

Somalia a poor coastal African nation in the eastern horn. A place so awful Ethiopia invaded it, looked at it, and left.

I'm an American nationalist and a registered Libertarian. I've been called a xenophobe but I'm not. I just happen to believe America is the best country and the other countries just aren't as good, that used to be called patriotism.

Don't remember the thing about Ethiopia invading it, though.

It was made very recently, around last Christmas or thereabouts. But it's possible.

The last Ethiopian invasion I heard about was in 2006, but the fact invading somalia is pointless has been known somewhat earlier. It's the pirate country for god sake! What's the point in invading a shipwreck?

If I recall rightly, the "invasion" was a nominal peace-keeping operation led by Ethiopa under the auspices of the African Union meant to stabilize Somalia since it hasn't had an actual government since the early '90s. There's been a civil war there for over a decade, with a very fundamentalist group called the Islamic Courts gaining prominence w/in the last 3 or 4 years. These are the sort of nasty guys that shoot people for listening to pop music or watching soccer games.
Obviously the intervention hasn't had much effect on Somalia's stability, given the rise in piracy, etc. Somalia isn't so much a country anymore as it is a collection of squabbling petty warlords and pirates. So it's basically Shartak in real-life.
