You've obviously mistaken the southernmost outsider town for the southeastern native village, 'mate'.

Really? I didn't know PH attacked wiksik and we were under GSUC law... Oh wait no, I think you may be the confused one ^_^ Wiksik is alive like a swamp, in constant flux with both desirable and undesirable elements. Not to mention the smell of decomposing flesh that turned up round about the time the NG did. Of course now there are also scents of rosewater where John has been... Makes you wonder really York sort of has an "Ankh Morpork" feel to it, living there is an occupational hazard and there seems to be WAY too many "innocent bystanders" for them not to be exporting them. The population is a mob waiting to happen, morality is something that happens to other people. Yet among this muck and dross there are some really decent people living there. As for the smell... Well the corpses in york are fresher.

Well Ether, you're in the wrong place then. I've just used up my AP looking around and the only dead bodies I've come across have been undesirables. Not to mention the smell of decomposing flesh that turned up round about the time the NG did Yea, the NG did make pretty good target practice... Being in York and living is a pretty easy thing to do. The only time it's hard is when non-York elements get involved - see the past few York wars. And from the intel I've been gathering... actually. I give up... I really do... I'm just sick of it all.

Aye, that we did. A bunch of peaceful scholars against an armed group of pkers, I like to think we did pretty well though in recalling all guild members and pressing GSUC back. ^_^
Mostly, when my alts have visited york on peaceful stays, they have ended up dead. One of them is a yorker, 100% peaceful and out of town when there is a war on.

The only good necromancer is a dead one. They like being dead, no?
Anyone and everyone dies in Shartak. Anywhere. The trick is to minimalise the risk of death.

A remarkably old sentiment that. I think the last person who followed that creed is long gone.

Not necessarily minimize the risk of death, but to accept death when it comes. Means I die a lot (a whole lot) but there are those awesome times where my not caring if I die lets me live and eat three or four people. I wonder how long York will last like this?

York is currently a protectorate of 'erby and therefore falls under the wise and steadfast governance of Sam Bellamy. I take full credit for its crime free streets, peaceful secluded squares and competitively-priced inns and bordellos.
Any violence that has been witnessed in recent weeks was most likely rehearsals for a play I have written about the life and times of Long Fin killie.

I sincerely hope, Governor Bellamy, this has not cribbed from my epic poem about Long Fin Killie:
Verse One:
There was a man called Long Fin Killie Who in killing pirates was quite silly Cutlass, knife and wooden club Were his preference to a pub With some nice beer pulled on tap Listening to early 80s rap While oogling the hot bartender And wondering whether he could rear-end her
No, Killie would rather kill corsairs Than be a stallion to the mares Than dredge the well or sheath the sword Than sink the pink or dam the fjord Than punch the Ewok or skin the cat Or play the pitch with balls and bat.
No, Long Fin Killie, damn his eyes Will have none of that.
But, back to York. Those of us who are resident in York need to gather in Kjendlie Square on the corner of Hazen Street and Serious Sam Cul-de-sac under the shadow of the Grand Heroes of the Colonial Police Memorial Statue (a large stained stone owl recently found in the jungle) to debate the revival or what was once Shartak's most tolerant, egalitarian and sane city.
The city motto, "Gun control means a steady aim", needs to be dusted off and embraced again. Please follow the proud York tradition of shooting someone to indicate your voting preference in the debate.

AlexanderRM on the word 'sycophant': "Hmm, maybe you should try getting your terminology straight, sounding like a complete idiot isn't helping you. BTW, it's killing me trying to figure this out, were you trying to say "psychopathic" there or is the gross misspelling actually intended to be some sort of pun?"

If York is in ruins then I suggest an election to place a brand new leader at the seat of York, one who will od somthing about it.
