Heh heh, this topic implies York was once a bastion of civilisation.

It's difficult to fall into ruin when there's nothing to fall from.

In the days of the York Coalition, York was in pretty good shape for a bit.  Even the invasion we saw off was pretty evenly handled and good-natured on both sides.  Part of the reason the Coalition fell apart was because York became peaceful, and there wasn't really something to fight.

In unrelated news, you all suck, the game isn't half what it used to be, damn kids get offa my lawn, blah blah blah.

York is intensely boring right now, I might add. The little group of outsiders I visited on day one seem to have disappeared, in place of a couple bodies.

There is even a lack of spirits.

Nothing!

Actually, the town is not dead, anymore. There are many players in York, right now.  Inside and outside, outsider and native, friends and foes, York has it all.

But oddly enough, there is silence.

Thats what I'm saying, total silence... my explorer has been wandering around looking for something to do or someone to talk to, but i'm about ready to go to Derby and see whats happening there.

Because of PH the locals are wary of any new players in York at this moment.

I think living in york just makes folks generally wary.  I mean its had more wars than every other village on the island put together.

True fact: in the Shartak thesaurus, "citizen of York" is listed as a synonym for "collateral damage."

Well I must counter Etherdrifter there, during the closing end of December York was the hub of Outsider activity. You couldn't move for people, everytime you hit refresh there were tens of people speaking to each other. The Huts were full, the Shaman lonely...

And now the huts are half full and there is silence.

It's pretty much the same in the other villages. The only word muttered is the one of a Taunt after a kill and even then they're kept short.

It's easy to blame it on the SS, but the time I've spent at the portals has been about as exciting as bleeding to death... The natives stick to their portals, the outsiders to theirs...
