Second year in Shartak

Happy birthday to you (and myself for becoming three these days!)

I don't know how many people even know there was a (now gone) forum before we got this one. There was not much going on at all, hardly any groups and only a handful of regular posters. It is surprising how long Shartak existed without a more developed metagaming community. Nowadays it is much much busier, which speaks for the game I guess.

And Foo is too modest to mention that he was the Admin there.

I must admit I missed my 3rd anniversary, which was back in February. Time does fly. February 06 was when Shartak went public IIRC, although I think it had actually been live and in Alpha testing since December 05 or so. There was a mild rush of the curious from Urban Dead after the game was mentioned on the old Desensitised board. Most didn't stick around, but a few of us did.

I learned about it from Urban Deadites as well. I think we should talk about Shintolin to those people, at least when it is more developed.

But whether such a place exists, how old it might be, or if it is in any way connected to the legend of Shartak I have just told, is a tale for another time.

Thread hijack here, but does anyone know why the profile numbers start at six? I'm reminded of Urban Dead, I think they started at like 10 or 11 there... but if you put in ID# 0 (I think)... you'll have to find out for yourself. 



Anyway, my 2nd anniversary was a little while ago, I think I joined on like January 27 or something... hey, I remembered it perfectly! January 27, 2007, the fateful day that the young warrior AlexanderRM began his journey into the jungles.

BTW, that's my explanation for the really low ages- there is a multiplier-thing for Shartak time, so 1 year is like 5 or 10 years, but you start out as an adult-ish... I'm thinking 15 years old? Just as a nice, round number that you can add 5s or 10s onto. So I'm... either 25 or 35. I'm going to go with around 30ish.

I would guess characters 1-5 were some of Simon's test characters and have been deleted, in the same way low numbered UD characters were mostly Kevan's (not exclusively, IIRC - there were some early testers as well).

Just a note, a lot of the early characters have been removed. I did ask Simon about this a while ago. Just stick numbers into the ID space and see.
