17 February, Year 4

As the new year strings the outsider settlers up for another hectic season of headhunting raids and cannibalism, the Greater Shartak Unification Coalition devises a sports competition to further weaken native influence across the island...

Native Awareness Month: What is it?
Native Awareness Month is a fiscal month-long holiday celebrated primarily in York from the 20th of January and the next 30 days, to commemorate the tireless struggles of York against foreign influence. Followers of this tradition celebrate by playing party games such as "Pin the Machete on the Dalpoki" and "Hunt the Scavenger", and for the not so faint-of-heart, veteran hunters engage in a month-long slaughter purge of the indigenous people of Shartak island-wide. Many celebrators wear a blue ribbon with a woven-in insignia of a phoenix, to signify the undying resolution of the York people.

While primarily a York-based holiday, Native Awareness Month can be celebrated by just about anyone, anywhere, regardless of creed or caste. Even if you are a hardcore pro-native headhunter, you don't have to feel left out and are welcome to join in on the celebrations without compromising your rugged values. Let the purging commence.

Prizes:
1st place: Not one, not two, but three (3) Heavy swords (a 750+ gold value) and 2,000 gold coins from the Greater Shartak Unification Coalition's coffers.
2nd place: Nothing!

Who can join and how to play:
Anyone can join in, including natives and pirates! The only requirements to join this contest is to a desire to encourage awareness of natives on Shartak, and play fairly. Just state which character you will be using to join the contest with, and I'll add it to the roster. Only one character per player is allowed. Do not cheat, and if foul play is evidently pointed out, which includes, but not limited to alt scouting or killing your own alts for points, or killing other contestants with your alts within a general area, you will be disqualified without question.

To verify a kill, post either a screenshot of the kill or a link to Underworld of said kill. Underworld logs are necessary to confirm kills in this contest.

±De La Coiffe killed ±Akando

Amass the most points in this contest by the end of the fiscal month (20 February-22 March) by purging savages island-wide. There is no point limit; the winner of the contest is the contestant with the most points by the end of 22 March, 2009 (not the most kills, so be creative with your gaming strategy!)

For late entries, any previous kills made before the day of entering are not counted. Only kills made on or after the day of joining count.

Length:
Friday, 20 February 2009 0:00 GMT March 2009 through Sunday, 22 March 23:59 GMT 2009 (30 days).

Points:
Kill any native on Shartak and earn points based on the following scoring guidelines:

Weighted points:
+1........................0-19 player kills (Lightweight)
+2........................20-49 player kills (Welterweight)
+3 .......................50-99 player kills (Cruiserweight)
+4........................100-199 player kills (Heavyweight)
+5........................200+ player kills (Super Heavyweight)

Bonus points:
+1........................cannibal
+3........................member of Kingdom of Skulls
+3........................member of Rakmogaki Collective
+3........................member of Royal Court of Greater Raktam
+3........................member of Necromancers Guild
+2........................member of Bone Gnawers
+2........................member of Native Resistance Front
+2........................member of Dalpok Liberation Front
+2........................member of Independent Republic of Fort Creedy
+1........................member of Bear Warriors of the Mountain
+1........................member of Shargle Riders of the Mountain
-5........................member of Greater Shartak Unification Coalition
-5........................member of State of New York
Halved score..............same camp PK (if positive)

So if you were to kill the clan number-boosting AlexanderRM, you would earn +2 Welterweight, +3 Kingdom of Skulls, +3 Royal Court of Greater Raktam, +2 Independent Republic of Fort Creedy, for a grand total of 10 points. If you killed The Great Khali, that's +4 Heavyweight, +3 Rakmogaki Collective, and +1 cannibal for 8 points.
If you were a cannibal and killed Khali, you'd get half (4) points. If you were from Raktam and killed AlexanderRM, 5 points.

Natives can be killed anywhere in the game, from Durham peninsula to the Rakmogak archipelago to the heart of Raktam.

Contest rules are subject to change at anytime during the contest, but hopefully they won't change that much.

Contestants (16):
De La Coiffe...............Disqualified (DLC)
OpiumJoe...................38 points (KingBiscuit)
Nicolette..................59 points (Birf)
George the Scribe..........8 points (George the Scribe)
Matey Cyadora..............11 points (CyAdora)
Saracen....................109 points (Cheesesteak)
A giant parakeet...........60 points (Budgie)
kill thrill................74 points (kill thrill)
Spaghetti Machitty.........29 points (Spaghetti)
Pasta Machitty.............7 points (Pasta)
FirstAmongstDaves..........38 points (FAD)
Frankeinstein..............12 points (Frank)
Paul Bunyan................68 points (P Book)
Killy......................15 points (Killy)
Nigel the Pirate...........76 points (Iceman)
TripleU....................36 points (TripleU)

Updates:
Rule change #1 (20/2/09): home camp pks now give halved points rounded up (i.e. 10->5, 11->6) to prevent exploitation by native camp pker participants, who have it way too easy).

Rule change #2 (21/2/09): regarding late entries; only kills made on or after the day of entering are counted.

Rule change #3 (24/2/09): redacted the rule regarding late entries; any native kills you made on the 20th of February and after are counted, if you want to.

Rule change #4 (10/3/09): Shargle Riders of the Mountain and Bear Warriors of the Mountain now give +1 point each as of March 10.

You overestimate the intelligence of the savages. Besides, if they pull a deneris, I can ban them from the clan at my own convenience. Tongue

George the Scribe would like to participate in this witch hunt. Shamans should give +1 point if you ask me.

Enjoy your zerging (T-T and Stan666) you poor deluded little mortal.
...
I agree with Anthor's actions so far.  I also agree that both his alts had separate but real reasons to attack GSUC.
...
Its like the NG going after all of Stan's alts.  We could do it and then if he attacked us back we could say he was using multiple alts against us.

I only see points for killing natives, though...  Huh?

Join in on the celebrations in what way?

You could play dead? Drink some poison berry juice so someone could have an easy kill?

I would like to take part... but I just don't know...

See, if you had set this the month after the Cannibal one, plenty of cannibals from the Collective probably would have joined up in the festivities.  I know Grunk the Pale would have.
