Didn't you used to keep this locked and then unlock and relock it when you needed to make a post?
That seemed like a pretty good solution to me.

I hypothesize that this may be connected to a mod stepping in a telling everyone to stop making zerging accusations in bold text. Of course, correlation does not imply causation, so I could be wrong.

Yep, I did... But it's not as much fun if it's only me posting. If I wanted that I'd go start a blog. On the other hand, if it degenerates, I'll lock it again.
