http://forum.shartak.com/index.php/topic,1966.0.html

As we can see here, there's some interest in reviving a Federation in the east, possibly under the name of the Peninsula Federation. So far I quite like what's been suggested, like making Derby an arms manufacturer for the island or equipping the best dressed soldiers on it

Anyone got an interest in this? We can use the old forums, since the facilities set up there are ideal, there's a lot of free real estate in Derby to house up in and I think that bringing Derby back to being a household name is a damn fine idea

Will you consider allying with York? Sure we've had our differences, but when we have a common goal (like removing cannibals from our lands), we become a well-tuned machine.

I will never ally with York, nevah! Rawr!

I'd consider an Alliance, but it'd depend on how I got on with the leaders in RP and whether we could even help each other at all. We do have a history of working together, as much as we have one of antagonism.

I see potential in this...

The natives have gotten over their differences and Wiksik and Raktam and Dalpok are allies. Why can't we?

I agree.  While it's nice to see offers of alliance from three towns, it's probably best to wait a bit while we see how this turns out.

I am feverishly working on a constitution to present to people from Derby, hopefully I'll have it done tomorrow, Sunday at the latest if real life intervenes. I'll pop it here and people can pick at it, see if it looks viable or if it is pie in the sky. If it seems viable we'll refine it, and see how many real life people will be involved, and if we refine it and are more or less happy and if we can get enough people, then I think that we can see about forming a government and doing all the leg work (creating a wiki, organising people, etc.) associated with that. Then we'll see how things go with groups outside of Derby.

Basically, I am looking to provide RP opportunities with a low to moderate amount of responsibility, to keep people interested; however, we want to do our best to keep things balanced, to ensure that we have achievable goals, in the real people department, and a good crew that won't leave one or three people really overworked.

Sounds good to me.

Derby's always been a very freedomy place, pirate democracy rules.

Meanwhile, in the Hanged Misfit pub, the Drinking Faction of the forthcoming Peninsula Federation - Hercule le Tof, Roadwork Bob, and Deus257 - are all excited about the revival of the Federation, and are trying to convince Cold Seether to reform and assume statesman-like duties.

Deus257 is offering to be Master-at-Arms and help establish a Derby Territorial Army.

I think we need to convene an assembly to appoint a Prime Minister (leader), a Minister of Foreign Affairs (dealing with foreign states), an Exchequer or Finance Minister (collecting taxes and administering the public purse), a Minister for Defence (preventing foreign incursions on Derby soil) a Minister for Resources (administration of heavy sword mining), and a Minister for Land (ensuring huts are properly labeled). We can also establish a Senate. We can decide on titles at the assembly. Does anyone propose a location?

Once we have a location we can post notes around Derby inviting interested parties to attend to nominate themselves and vote.

Perhaps "Minister of the Interior"?

Now to another note:

http://www.shartak.com/clanview.cgi?id=426 is this for real? It sounds like the German Sturmabteilung.

It's not real, saw that the other day myself and was mildly annoyed. Firstly, we dont have dirty secrets - I always made trouble in the name of the Fed, so we never needed to do it on the sly. Secondly, the Fed's dead right now, so why would anyone play on our mythical fame in such a way?  cool

He's a member of the 1CM.  I dunno if they're active or not.  If they're not, then he could be attempting to co-opt both groups' reputation for himself.

Or maybe he means well and just figures no one will care if he uses the name of a dead clan.  Incidentally, he's the only member of the clan.
