Why does the Shartak forum now have a karma system?

My bad, it's not karma, it's reputation. Ai. One can get so easily confused when visiting other forums.

Because I wanted it back so badly. Now smite me.

The flight was heavenly
the sky my ocean
As I soared beyond the clouds
and golden voices called me home
You asked "Do you believe in love?"
and I shook my head
So, your sins unto me as I fall down
never to return from this land
My wings are clipped, my voice stilled,
Goodbye.

It does leave you to wonder though who's been smiting/applauding you... Though you get to expect who could do it....

#1: this should go in the forum discussions, methinks.

#2: I'm not so sure if a karma system is such a good idea... I think there was a discussion about it awhile ago, we evidently had a karma system long ago, but it was removed. One issue is that it reflects the feelings of people who actually care about that, while you might wind up with people proud of their high karma who as a result care more about it, and people who ignore karma because theirs is low, so if you have two large, opposing sides with a major presence on the forums you can easily have one which doesn't care about karma and one which cares a lot about it, caught in a vicious cycle.
There's also the way that one person can ruin someones' reputation, or many peoples' reputation, by being persistent enough. I'm pretty sure there are other things... oh yeah, it makes the forum seem like a popularity contest.
