Personally, I'd assumed that it all just grew at roughly the same rate, but slowed or sped up by fresh/salt water... I had a character endlessly circling and chopping jungle around the Dalpok grassland for awhile, I... all I'm certain of is that whenever jungle grew back, it would be like D1 over a large area.
I believe there is a set number of jungle squares that go up a density at each midnight (well 5 past to be precise) but which squares is decided randomly.
Huh. Assuming that that's correct, would that mean that... the less jungle there is, the faster the remaining jungle grows?
The DFM must be warned. This will also hugely affect plans to cover the island with grassland... by the time we got even half the island we'd be having to use almost all our AP just to keep the jungle down.
That would also mean that pouring salt water merely moves the growth over somewhere else, but that should be OK since, at any given time, the borders of grasslands should be far smaller than the total amount of jungle, since there'll always be villages and islands... hugely overgrown villages and islands if this theory is correct. Which I suppose would seriously threaten the integrity of grasslands near the villages as well.
