*Grins*

Of course locals are suffering.  Thats what NG is all about, killing innocents to make the rising powers look bad.  Standard tactic that only fools fall for.

Fixed.

* Anthor bangs his club on the table again.

All rise for Anthor, Avatar and Leader of the Kingdom of Skulls. The Court is in session.

The Gallery needs to calm down.

DLC is in contempt of the court, and to be removed for evidence tampering. AlexanderRM, please remove DLC and take him down to the cells. He can stay there until he starts behaving himself.

Hexoatl, please wait your turn as witness.

Before we return to questioning the first Witness, Etherdrifter, there is court business to be concluded. Arise Dappled Shadow, and stand before the court.

I will take your points in order:

1) The Prosecution Case:

I will return a response from the court on this one later.

2) Jurisdiction over the Accused:

The charges asserted by the court took place in Wiksik. The Kingdom of Skulls claims jurisdiction over the village of Wiksik itself, as is evidenced by the Kingdom of Skulls Throne Room being a prominent feature within the village. It even has its own Bathhouse. The Kingdom of Skulls jurisdiction covers a large area of land, including Wiksik, please see the following map for more information: http://wiki.shartak.com/index.php/Kingdom_Of_Skulls.

The accused, John the Baptist was a member of the Kingdom of Skulls during the alleged treason.

3) Conflict of Interest:

The alleged victim is a member of the Kingdom of Skulls.

Your conflict of interest claim is thrown out. This is a Kingdom of Skulls trial, therefore all rules of the court as created by the Kingdom of Skulls, under the law of the Kingdom. Therefore, as tyrannical leader of the Kingdom, I do not accept your conflict claim.

4) Jurisdiction over the Alleged Victim:

Your jurisdiction claim is also thrown out. The Kingdom of Skulls claims jurisdiction over all matters within the lands marked on the map as the Kingdom of Skulls.

* Anthor bangs his club on the table again.

Order! ORDER! ORDER IN THE COURT!

AlexanderRM you may evict Hexoatl from the court until he's called for as a witness. Perhaps you can tie him up around the back? Make sure you gag him too.

Dappled Shadow, as an amicus curaie, you have put much thought into your brief and therefore I will ponder your points of law overnight and give my judgment tomorrow. I have to warn you however that as the leader of a failed coup against the Royal Court, your standing is on very unstable ground. Black Fang, and a strike force of the KOS were on their way to take your head, but your leaving Raktam suddenly, prevented bloodshed. As Black Fang was SofaKing's brother, I am now SofaKing's blood brother. We are united in our grief over Black Fang's murder, as we are in our purpose to save the natives of this island from the terrorists that are amongst us. Your saving though is your brief, being very well constructed, I will allow it to be entered into the court documents. I will answer the 4 points of Dappled Shadow by next cycle.

Court is dismissed for food, entertainment (where are my dancing girls?!), and rest. Let us resume in the morning.
* Anthor bangs his club on the table again, and everyone rises.

Supplementary brief from Dappled Shadow:

In querying my status, you "attack the man" and not the argument. This is called an ad hominem logical fallacy. It assumes the flaw in the man is to be extrapolated to the flaw in the argument.

Whatever rights I have to Empire do not attach to my arguments.

Sorry, I just saw this.

Final brief of D. Shadow Esq:

If you say that as tyrant you above the rule of law, and so conflicts do not affect you, then I accept that and move that the trial be discontinued as purposeless and that you act as you see fit withour regard to any superfluous legal process. By initiating a trial you accept strictures on your authority which is otherwise absolute.... subject to my own authority as absolute ruler of the island, of course.

Of course it is.  Now remove yourself from this court unless you have something useful to offer.  *Raises his hands to remove DLC with a flick of his wrist*

[OOC- Pizza, this is an IC thread for the trial. If you cannot talk in character, please refrain from posting, thank you.]
* Anthor looks fiercely at Dappled Shadow's last message.

And who are YOU to question MY authority? A failed usurper? A frightened rabbit, who runs at the first sign of trouble? I accept no such strictures on my authority, the authority of the leader of the Kingdom of Skulls is absolute. I shall have the trial, and I shall have it with MY rules. I do not accept your authority as absolute ruler of the island. In fact, if you'd like to visit Wiksik, I shall be happy to bring you to trial also.
* Anthor bangs his club on the table.

As I am acting as Judge and Jury, along with lawmaker, we shall bypass the prosecution phase of the trial and go straight to calling the accused to the stand.

AlexanderRM, bring me John the Baptist!

As has already been pointed out, if you claim to be supreme tyrant of the Kingdom of Skulls and above any laws, then there is no point in holding a trial.

OOC - You criticise York police clans for their "judge jury and executioner" styles, but are happy to use it for Wiksik.

* Anthor bangs his club on the table.

Trial dissolved. John the Baptist has condemned himself to death.

2008-11-28 17:32
±John the Baptist killed ±Anthor

All executions of John the Baptist http://www.shartak.com/profile.cgi?id=14125 will be rewarded when his head is brought to me in the KOS Throne Room.
