So, are the pirates the only ones without a unifying clan?

I could see why, too. Playing as a pirate sucks badly.

Some call that anarchism,
I call it having a :palm:ing heart that beats!
I do believe in freedom and never giving up.
Call my methods madness or call them luck.

And if you quit your job well, you can do a little breathing with me.

Speak for yourself. I enjoy being a rum drinking, ghost ship sailing, cutlass swinging pirate. Also I could point to a few other towns that I wouldn't exactly count as unified.

Dani: I am presently engaged in the task of building a pirate clan specifically for newbies. it is my intention to purify the inherent criminality from incoming pirates so they become productive members of the island, rather than roving thugs (as under the previous model) or destitute bums (as they currently are).

Do what all the pirates do anyway:  Come to New Haven and Durham!

I'm not seeing the problem of being a roving thug or a destitute bum, personally.

You apparently don't see reasoning behind being awesome instead.

I somehow get away with being all three.

Seriously, I'd be pleased to see a pirate clan operating like in the good old days. The Brotherhood of the Coast was a vibrant clan with lots of participants. If someone can get it off the ground, I'll join.

PHC was a complete failure. I think it's fair to say that in this thread, isn't it? Whatever its original aims were, there was no coordination for attacking towns, no unity among pirates, nothing. Then a whole bunch of other clans got started that were supposedly practical alternatives to PHC (ie., Shipwreck Defense Force) but they were run by newbies who didn't know they were doing and so those failed too.

My (Dani's) goal is to build a newbie welcome clan specifically for new pirates, with the eventual aim of getting them out of the shipwreck and (almost) never coming back. I figure if someone goes down to the ship and spends enough time keeping newbies from dying every day and giving them stuff they need to survive, they'll listen to that guy when he starts talking about clans and organization. Sorry to disappoint you though, FAD, but it won't be Brotherhood of the Coast reimagined. it'll be more like the Cult of Petey Islam-style.

I'm not purposely dumping on you though, FAD. It's tough to organize pirates, and i'm hardly a shining example...case in point, this plan was supposedly my main focus, but then I decided to run for the Durham elections. Now it's a backburner project to occupy my time if Solemn somehow defeats me.

I'm hardly offended. PHC was me larking around. I was not even remotely taking the clan seriously, as I've said in another thread, and certainly wasn't trying to built unity amongst pirates. Good luck with your cult!
