A Roleplaying Adventure Anyone Can Join!
I thought it would be fun to just make up a story as we go along. I did that once IRL with a couple people and it was lots of fun, so I decided to bring it to the forums.

Rules:
* Posts should add to the story in some way.
* No comments. If you want to talk *about* the adventure, post in a different thread.
* Don't kill off someone else's character. You can do in NPC's, though.
* Have fun!

I'll start the adventure. "My companions" are whoever wants to join in.
--------

It is a dark night and rain is pouring down in sheets, hitting the ground hard and leaving muddy pools of water everywhere. I've got on a heavy pack, and am weary, searching for a place to rest but finding nothing in this barren landscape. Finally I give up and set down my pack on one of the few areas that's thick with grass and free of mud. I set up my tent, a simple triangular design and lie down inside. What good this shelter will do when I'm already soaked I don't know, but there's no harm in it either. Briefly I call out to my companions to let them know we're setting up camp for the night, wait for their reply, and then quickly fall into a deep slumber.

Blahmicho starts to stir as the rhythmic motions that had rocked him to sleep cease, only to be jerked awake as his ride drops to the ground.

Groggily he pokes his head out the top of Buttercup's pack. Hearing the snores of it's owner, Blahmicho crawls away as quietly as he can. Pouring rain washes the juice of pilfered mangoes from his face, and Blahmicho curls up under a nearby elephant ear plant.

#$%^#^ was the first thing i thought when the rain started to fall. I hate rain, especially when on an unknown island. Some guy said we had to set up camp and i immediately agreed with him. Better to set up camp then to continue trekking in the rain. I am lying in my sleeping bag, listening to the rain hitting the tent. I better try to get some rest. Who knows what tomorrow brings?

It had taken a few minutes, but Xeron had finally found a position where he should be able to affect everyone in the campsite with a single mind blast. He had also located his first couple targets. Summoning the energy of his mind, he prepared to attack... and let loose. He quickly hurried towards his first target, glancing around nervously- he didn't usually attack this many people, but they had been too close to his secret layer, and he was certain that they were another band of ragtag adventurers out to kill him... but he should be okay as long as there weren't any slayers.

(P.S. my first target is a random NPC- I'm assuming there are some NPCs with you. My second target... I probably won't wind up getting to them, so, whatever)

Grey loved the night rain. He didn't understand why the group insisted on trekking during the scorching and humid day. Much of the expedition was insensible though; it possessed only a small possibility of being worth more than entertaining misadventure. He proceded to release his patented tensile frame tent which expanded to inhabitable size from a bundle stuffed in an empty first aid kit by its own accord, threw most of his luggage inside, and stretched and relaxed outside. "This discovery ought to be signifigant."

Blahmicho feels a strange vibration in his mind, and his dream seems almost to.....ripple.

However the mind blast passes him by mostly without incident, probably due to the physiological differences between humans and caterpillars

Remalle, unused to roleplaying, simply sets up her own tent and disappears within.  She sets up, washes her hands, and lies down for the inevitably long and boring path to sleep.  She barely has time to reflect on the fact that the leader of the expedition (I assume that's you, Buttercup?) had insensibly chosen to move during the heat and light of day, before the mind blast nullifies the effects of insomnia.
(I hope that's not godmodding.  Alexander did say that he would be targetting everyone in the camp.)

A human walks over to the campsite where the several people reside. He looks around for a bit before speaking thus: You seem to have all be staying motionless here for over two months. Is this because you are overly religious or because of them? He then motions to the massive swarm of winged goats surrounding the camp. The goats merely growl at before returning to their soul piercing gazing.

Xeron begins to wonder if he applied a few too many duration-enhancing metapsionic feats to that mind blast...

The Creature stared out from his cave. The rain came down in a torrential downpour, causing water to spill inside the mouth of his abode. Down below, cowering nearby his mountain, a small group of wanderers made camp. Nearby, a restless Shargle squawked, as it laid yet another egg. The Shargle egg's were the main source of food for The Creature. Crawling out of his cave, he pick up a handful of eggs, and began to throw them off the ridge onto the wanderers below. "What fun" he thought, as the eggs began to plummet towards them.

Xeron had completed the fireball*, iceball, and thunderball* and was just about to begin on the acidball when a giant egg landed a short distance away from him. Looking up, he suddenly wondered if he might wish to utilize some method of retreat or defense instead, and leave the "pentagonal burst" as a triangle...

*delayed blast.

The Creature could smell their fear. It was rank with the smell of fire, a tinge of frost, and that undeniable stench of lightning. Eggs continued to fall, one after another. A Shargle looked up quizzically, before returning to its previous nap.
