And yes, I'm being serious. Dandelions! They're delicious! (I have actually eaten them before, they taste alright.) Seriously... weed is a special that some people smoke, much like a cigarette, but with entirely different effects. There's actually songs about it. The one I know offhand is: Marijuana Marijuana LSD LSD College kids are making it High school kids are taking it Why can't we? Why can't we? Can you figure out the name of that mystery plant?

Ah, so THAT'S what it is. Aside from knowing it was some sort of drug, I was rather lost. Seriously, why can't people use the real name, instead of making up all sorts of weird slang terms?

Weed is overrated!
As a matter of fact, I used a little of my frozen stash of 'special' foodstuffs today, and had a very nice time listening to Zepplin, Pink Floyd (who I dont really like much) and Orange Goblin (try it...) inbetween the last two episodes of Prison Break I hadn't watched from the DVD. As you can see, Imstilcoherns. Shame the GB gov. are bringing it back to a class B instead of downgrading it. I'm writing my pursuasive language english coursework from a pro-cannabis standpoint, and brought my teacher onto the Green side I need to slap Gordon Brown upside the head a few times...

I really do think it's overrated. In America, no lie, it seem's to be the coolest things to teenagers who I dont even believe have ever even used it. I suppose it's better than other drugs seeing as it wont really harm anybody (much, MUCH unlike needle drugs) but I still believe it's overrated. Alcohol is all I need.

Er... Actually, I do have an uncle who used it throughout the '70s. He says that he lost that entire period of his life due to it.
STILL sure it won't really harm anybody?

supposedly weed is a introduction drug...
the high is lost relatively quickly, and its not economic to smoke large amounts. leading to other substance abuse.
at least... thats what they've been telling me for the past 3 years in those drug demand reduction classes....

You guys might not want to admit to performing illegal activites on a public forum. Not saying that it will get you caught but the possibility is there.

Meh, I'm still a minor, I think. I get a warning until the legeslation is passed...
Anyway. The myth about 'gateway' drugs is just that, a myth. Cannabis is no more likely to lead you onto harder drugs than alcohol is. Since people do stupid things when they're drunk as well as high, then I'd say alcohol is more likely to lead you to buy some crack. Your drug classes are what is called 'biased', luckily, my citezenship teacher had 'friends' who took all kinds of things in the 70's, and didn't have much bad to say about pot as long as it was smoked or eaten in small ammounts. It's people who get completely and totaly wasted on the stuff that give it a bad name, just as with alcohol. The only Gateway is the Dealer himself. If you have to go to a dealer for your weed then he's going to try and push you some other junk. BUT 9/10 users get pot from thier friends. Controled legalisation is the only way to close that gate.
Mark, I dont want to belitle your story, but your Uncle may have taken too much, took it every day, had a bad batch (my friend once accidentaly took *whatwasitnow* some other drug because his spliff was cut with something else, and only found out the day after) or is mentally unsuitable for it. The myth about causing mental illness comes from people with existing mental conditions, or personality factors which makes the drug unsuitable for them (I sited the Uni of Oslo for this in my essay). Your state of mind when taking it effects they effects too. (Oslo again)

I've smoked at least three times a week for the past 4 years of my life, and I still get high as a kite from an ounce
As to being a gateway drug, I don't know. I started off on weed, loved it and still do, then pretty quickly started doing LSD and Ecstasy occasionally. Each gives me a distinctive great feeling, while being 100% safe for everything but my wallet.
It's all about personal choices. Don't let anyone tell you what's okay to do and what isn't. It's your life and you're only going to live it once.

I actually have a pretty funny story about Ecstasy. Or rather lack of. This one time I gave my friend a pill and told him it was ecstasy and all it really was, which I thought was funny, was a simple over the counter headache medicine. He took it and started acting like he was tripping (a placebo effect if there ever was one) and I had to pretty much convince him it was just regular headache medicine.
